Vocations of women?
« on: June 13, 2007, 11:14:38 AM »
I am curious as to why I have met a couple of RW that have the same vocation - Personal Trainer.  The European gyms that I've worked out in had nothing even close to our gyms, much less the PTs like we have.

Anybody know anything about this or have any input?

tks,
Macman

LOL!! Yeah, watch out Mac, they're gonna whip you into shape!

Actually, I've yet to encounter a PT. Seems everyone I've either met or been in contact with has been a 'manager' as they term it.  Whatever their educational background, it seem opportunities to work in the field are limited and they take what they can get.  The popularity of gyms are on the rise there, so naturally there would be some openings.

What exactly is bothering you about it?

The title of "trainer" in the FSU can also apply to anyone who teaches dance, gymnastics, aerobics, pilates, wrestling, or whatever. You won't find many full-service gyms like you see here in the US outside of big cities, and most cater to foreign visitors and wealthy local residents. You WILL find lots of simple studios where women take aerobics classes and where children are taught gymnastics and dance (and where everyone freezes their popkas off in the Winter if they remain still for long :)

Well DaveMan, I find it interesting that I met two women with the same vocation.  I may be a little under-educated about gyms in Russia; however, it was my opinion that most folks cannot afford gym memberships much less personal trainers.

NO BC, not yet or anything else for that matter.  I suppose that'd be a post in and of itself. LOL.

Hey, I'm a gym kind of guy and would love my lady working out with me.  Especially if she was actually trained in the field.

Well whatever you do, don't start using a womans vocation in your cost/benefit analysis...

-it never works out in the end..

Do you mean "job" by "vocation"? :) There are a lot of fitness-centers and gyms now, they are very popular. For example, in our town there are 5 big, professional gyms only in the center of the town, not to mention huge amount of them all over the town and really luxury ones at the outskirts. And all of them are full of people. So trainers should be in demand now, I guess.

Hey Nat. . .

Yes, I meant the job/vocation/profession of the woman.  However, in smaller cities I don't see there being a big need for Personal Trainers like we have here in the states.

There's an earlier post from Daveman that gave me a new thought that I now consider.
