You being there or the knowing about you will 'almost' guarantee denial.

I need to do more research.. To see if it would make sense for me to fly to Ukraine and go with her to embassy appointment..

I can tell you that the sex is mind blowing <POOF> when you fly halfway around the world to stand by your woman for her interview. FSUW will go above and beyond to show their appreciation for their man when you do things like this.

Any one have experience with getting Canadian Transit Visa's?

Yes, she would need a visa, but it's just a normal Canadian visa.  Current processing time is five days.

Mmmmmkay, so no 13 day visit to the Evil Western Imperialist Empire for her in July. I guess we'll have to institute Plan B. Hungary and a romantic Greek island. This way I get to enjoy two of my favorite things......Formula 1 and Greek food  :D

Apologies for the thread hijack.

We almost have all our documents...
Her international passport will be here soon..  Than she can finish the DS-160,, with my english teacher friend...

We still need to get all of her medical records... For New York...

We are hurrying,, because her birthday is next month... We want to go down to her uncles house at the pond.. and enjoy some Suana and BBQ...

So If I can scrap together the money...
I might be going for another month,,,, LOl

I really want to wait until she schedules the interview.. so when know how long the wait is....

I know after the interview...  We should know within a week....
than 5 days for canadian Transit visa....  or Plan B Ukrainian Airways straight to NYC from Kiev..

So If I plan my trip good... We should be able to complete everything in 4 or 5 weeks...

Her english is improving fast,,, but once you go west.. everything is in English.. I think she will need me to help her through the airports..

I am sick of waiting,,,, Lol

She has her interview date..

Now I need to buy some tickets!!

I do not understand why a one way ticket to Ukraine is more expensive than a round trip?? WTF?

Now that we have 98% of the tings needed for the visa interview...

I need to start making trip plans...
My friend has offered to pick us up in Kiev.. so,,,
We will make it to the lake and sauna for her birthday!!!

I know it is not 100%,, But I think they will let her in..

So now we must do the canadian transit visa.. or It will be Kiev to JFK =.....  I would rather go to montreal.. Ugh....

her work is almost done for 2 weeks..
Now It is go time for me...

Not sure what you mean by the transit visa but the link Boethius provided said Ukrainians need a visitors visa to visit or transit through Canada. They do not qualify for the electronic travel authorization. There is a leniency period until Sept. 29 though. The hardest part of my wife's trip to America was when she had a layover in Europe. They almost didn't let her go and drilled her for information so long she almost missed the flight. The visa in her passport and k-1 documents weren't convincing them she had the right to come here. I would recommend to guys if their lady is stepping onto American soil for the first time, get a direct flight. There's no need for drama and anxiety. Darth, the last thing you need is to get your lady to Canada only to fumble the ball at the goal line. You're sure to score if you get that direct flight to JFK.

maybe you are right..

I can get a flight from JFK to a local airport 2 hours away in New York...

So I might just do that...

I really wanted to take her to Pee Vans,,,  in Cornwall..
Poutine is great after a long trip..

Hi Darth,

I would agree with Billy. Meet her at JFK, stay the night in the city. Then either drive upstate or fly to Albany. Trying to transit by car through Canada may be risky. Get her on US soil. Once you are married and she is a resident she can get all poutine she wants.  :D

Good luck!

Absolutely.

Don't play with borders and visas.  Get her to the US.  Make it as simple as possible.  Besides, who (except for me) wouldn't want to see NYC anyway?

Me. I only live two hours away but try not to go there if I can help it. I see no appeal to the city.

Yes, seriously. Expensive, busy, crowded, and fatiguing. Speaking of Newark, they've got some phenomenal Portuguese and Spanish restaurants! Yummy!    :clapping:

Darth, I assume you are closer to Montreal or Ottawa than to NYC?

If  you want to go through Canada, apply for the Canadian visa.  Then you'll know.  Just don't book the ticket until you know either way.  If your fiancee obtains a Canadian visa, there will be no problem for her, travel wise, once she lands in Canada.

I am still looking at a tourist visa.. perhaps..
I think a transit visa is only good for airports...

I don't really want to go to NYC...

It add many hours and more money to the trip..

I am not worried about US border control.. I know most of the guys in my area.. It is getting her out of montreal airport.. LOL

Leaving on Monday...
Trip 3...
She got her medical done today in Kiev...
Almost done...

Lets do a recap of events..

Talk Online for 3 months

First trip 2 weeks,, stayed at her house met the parents..

Started K1...

Made second trip for 5 weeks

More Sauna's and friends... Received second fur hat..

Her Ki Visa is almost done..
It has been around one year,,, into this process...
And it will be around 30,000 Spent... on all parts of this process...
This includes all plane tickets, hotels, food, Jagermeister, gifts, my clothes, luggage, Sauna's, concert tickets, taxi, train tickets...
More gifts,, more Sauna, more Barbeque and Jager bombs...

So I can now say with some confidence....
This process will cost you between 20 - 30 Thousand... Spread out over 1 - 3 years....

Things I have learned..

How to swear in Russian...
How to drink Russian beer in a jar,,,

PROMT offline Translator... works great...
Do bring extra Battery packs...  for your phone...

LEARN HOW TO SAY NO....  really it is okay... you can say No to them....

Always have a plan B... Like Hookers and cocaine... This is a joke....
But seriously have a plan Be and use google maps.. if you get lost....

Do get a international credit card for emergencies... and I prefer cash.... for most of the trip....

Be aware their is a scam around every corner...
Recommend,,  making local friends...

Because they always know were the best night clubs are located..
Where the best food is... Sauna's

Do Not ask girls to the sauna...
Because most find them dirty...

They think men only bring girls their to have sex...
in case you wanted to know why beds are located in the sauna..  lets just say... things can get colorful....

Do Drink local beer...

Do Not drink water with gas...

Learn to enjoy Techno.. and english songs remixed to hell....

Do give your seat to the ladies on the bus..
HOLD on.. The Roads Suck!!!

Clothes and gas is expensive...
Cigarettes and local vodka is cheap...

If it can be counterfeited...
You can sell it in ukraine...

Learn to speak Russian for the east
or
Ukrainian for the west..

Go Fishing....
Drink more beer...

Repeat...

We should have the VISA in a few days....
The Visa was issued today...
we should have the psychical copy with in 10 days...

We might go to Crimea for a few days,, to celebrate before we head back to New York...

I did a little research online...
It looks like it is rather easy and fast for me to get a tourist visa for Russia.....

I will post some pictures.... If we go......
