Poll - Lady's Country of Origin ?
« on: October 11, 2006, 03:50:32 PM »
Just curious where the ladies are from. My guess is most are from Mother Russia - but thought it might prove interesting to confirm.

In the case of my wife, she hails from Kremenchug, Ukraine.

How about the rest of you?

My fiancee is from Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Yoshkar-Ola in the Republic of Mari-El, Russia.
Ethnically, she's Tatar, with all grandparents having
been born in Kazan.

Done!

Thanks.

I do not recall ANYONE ever saying their lady was from Moldova.

I know we have seen a couple of ladies post on the board who are originally from Belarus.

And of course, BillyB's beauty from Uzbekistan and the Caucasus.

Don't recall any ladies from the Baltic's.

Well, as I said - it might be interesting - though I am betting Russia runs away with the prize.

Any takers?

If this thread gets good participation, Dan, I think it'd
be interesting to display a map with pinpoints denoting
city (or village) of origin.

Dan -- Define "from" for me please...

Yeah - not always straight-forward is it.

In Olya's case, she considers herself Russian through her father's ethnic bloodlines - but the fact that she lived in Kremenchug, except for a brief period in Siberia, sort of seals our decision.

I think everyone should just use their best judgment. It could be any of (but not ALL): where she was living when you flighted her away to a new country OR where she spent the majority of her life OR where she was born OR where *she* considers herself "from" - any one would be valid for these purposes.

Your selection.

I agree.

Was thinking some kind of Google Map with pins would be nice. Let's see how the topic develops and if people post enough information to enable a feature like this.

Good suggestion.

Nina was born and raised in Leningrad (Now St. Petersburg).  She spent her entire life in the same section of the city.

Then we met each other and I moved her across town.

She still hasn't forgiven me for taking her away from her family.

Mine hasn't either.  But bus fare is a lot less for you to lay out than it is in my case.   :o

My wife was born in Azerbaijan, and moved north to Russia when she was 6 years old.

My girlfriend is from Sumy, Ukraine.  From what she tells me, there are MANY, MANY beautiful women there, and they just go crazy or "jump around" American men when they come  :)

I met her here in California, she has a visa and greencard already.

Val is from Okhtyrka, Ukr. Sumy region. Looks like Ukr. is giving Ru a run for the money. I guess you could say she's an Okhtyrichka born and raised.

Yes, Ukraine is seemingly pulling ahead in this poll.  This may be due to the ease with which foreigners may now visit Ukraine, while Russia still requires a $100.00+ visa.  Ukraine is smaller and it's easier to get around, Russia is huge and requires hours of additional travel effort to get anywhere, which is a big disadvantage.   However I don't think any of this reflects on the relative quality of the respective women.

Since most of our posts are influencing newbies, at least to some extent, I'd like to recommend the newbie not consider visa, or no visa, as the limiting factor in selecting a country to visit.  Russia is still full of RWs.  And that's the goal in the end.

We should not lose sight of that.

Yeah - I am a little surprised at the results to this point. As I was recounting the various stories from members, it just seemed that girls from Russia were in the majority - but, that is why I raised the poll - I was (and am) genuinely curious.

Also agree jb, that this has no reflection on "quality" one way or the other - and no inference should be taken from it. It is likely that, just as you say, it is more a reflection of the easier visa regimen than anything. To support that, look at the few ladies from Belarus, which is MUCH more off the beaten path and difficult to enter/exit and travel.

Not quite sure what to say about Moldova. While I do not recall hearing anyone speak of a fiance/wife from Moldova, I thought surely we would have SOME representation.

Anyone even visited Moldova?

For me, Visa is not really a problem... but what i find crazy is the need to have a "invitation"... so, you need to take a hotel room or offical appartment or ask your girlfriend to wait long hours in a row for make a invitation... in Ukraine, i can hire little appartment from local agency, i can go everywhere without the need to register in each city... simply more free...

Yes, very long time ago... i was not seeking a bride, only enjoy the life... Language not to much far from the Italian...

For information, Moldova will be visa free from January 2007... like Ukraine !

In addition to the visa and invitation hassle, guys traveling to Russia also have to worry about registering when they arrive at their destination city. And many travel agencies in Russia won't deal with registering Americans (for some reason I've never really understood). Although my advice to guys just starting out would be to avoid agencies, this is one area where an agency can make things easier.

I was also surprised to learn that I had to show my passport when buying a phone card in Russia, and the clerk dutifully recorded the details in his ledger. In Ukraine I simply forked over the cash and nothing else was required.

Regardless, anyone trying to find a partner in Ukraine or Russia "the easy way" will soon find that there's nothing easy about this endeavor. The minor logistical hassles are nothing compared with the potential pitfalls, difficulties, and of course, the potential rewards. Don't let such a minor element influence your decision on where to search.

Thanks, Groove,

My sentiments exactly.  A bit of Government boolsheet should not deter a man from finding the best woman of his dreams.  The visa crap is very minor.
