Poroshenko pluses and minuses
« on: April 28, 2019, 11:00:51 AM »
I have done just a bit of reading on this, and some discussions with Ukrainian wife.

What good did Poroshenko accomplish:

1) Rebuilt military destroyed by Yano.
2) Achieved visa free travel to much of Europe for Ukrainian citizens.
3) Helped secure freedom of Ukrainian Orthodox Church from Russian control.
4) Rebuilt close relations with many Western countries.
5) Kept Ukraine fairly stable for 5 years, except for the Donbas region.

What bad continued under Poroshenko:

1) Continued war with Russian terrorists in Donbas.
2) Fall in value of national currency; however, much of this was dictated by IMF.
3) Did not accomplish much if anything regarding reducing corruption.

Some 'experts' are predicting Poroshenko will be viewed in a much more favorable light by Ukrainians as time passes.

Note: I have left out Crimea because I think it is not in the best interest of Ukraine to regain control of that money-sucking area stocked with ethnic Russians.

What do yaalll think?
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

I think his mediocrity will be remembered favorably
only because what's coming is going to be so MUCH worse...
