Halloween in Russia
« on: October 30, 2014, 01:38:06 PM »
Halloween...bah and humbugski...

Quote
Celebration of Halloween began in the 1990s, when costume and ghoulish parties spread throughout night clubs throughout Russia. Halloween is generally celebrated by younger generations and is not widely celebrated in civic society (eg. theaters or libraries). In fact, Halloween is among the Western celebrations that the Russian government and politicians—which have grown increasingly anti-Western in the early 2010s—are trying to eliminate from public celebration

Wish that could happen here.

Neighborhood bullies pushed me down and stole my trick or treat candy last year ...just kidding.
Was maybe 10 or so. Hated Halloween ever since

It's a new holiday for Ukraine and I assume Russia.

My family over there likes the chance to put on the costumes that we bring and enjoy it. Maybe it'll continue to catch on so the grandkids can go out trick or treating in the neighborhood. (Sans the bullies)  :wallbash:

Couldn't agree more!  My late father got quite annoyed that his birthday (today) often got disturbed by this imported American custom.  :(

You can come to my house as I give out full-sized candy bars.

Years ago my sons would hide in the woods and scare the little ones as they came to the door.  Nothing worse than starting up a chainsaw.  I received complaints.

6.8 oz?  OMG.   My objective is to treat the kids, not give them diabetes requiring treatment.
