says Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"But the main focus now is of course to make sure that Ukraine prevails "

Nigel Farage has predictably reacted in horror.

Farage may have a point, one of Russia's bugbears is EU & NATO enlargement right on its borders. Stoltenberg's comments may pay only to evidence Putler's claims that Russia was under threat of this encroachment all along. Even though NATO membership may have been on the cards post Ukraine victory I don't think it's the smartest move for Stoltenberg to talk of NATO membership now. Russia & China look set to go in together and if that happens and Russia buys Chinese weapons then this war could be going on a good few years yet.

I still don't think either way Russia is up to taking on NATO as they can't even take Ukraine which is pretty dire performance from them. So on that front Farage may be overcooking it but the point remains that I don't think it was the smartest move by Stoltenberg in terms of trying to avoid the risk of further conflict.

you still want "peace in our time" Mr Chamberlain?
how will you get that? sign a treaty with Putin?
how'd that work out last time in Rhineland, Austria, Czechoslovokia?
do ya n'see laddie the advantage of NOT letting your expansionist enemy expand?
and instead have them spend all their resources trying to do so and FAIL!

never interrupt your enemy, when they're making a mistake
instead capitalize on it
cuz if you don't, and Russia takes Ukraine
then your enemy  is now Russia and Ukraine, and the next war will be a short one in Moldova
and then Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova will go after Georgia and there goes your pipelines to the Caspian

western oligarchs (especially in the european energy industry)
are looking for ways to sabotage support for Ukraine
for their own gain
they're Putin's 5th column
in Londongrad Floriadaograd, etc
they're in it for the money

Gazprom has setup a "fake" anti-war peace movement in the USA
you sincerely believe that they're anti-war?
or is that the usual form of deception to stop support for Ukraine

the west has no choice but to confront Putin
you can confront him when he's at his weakest
or you can keep kicking the can down the road
and let him get stronger
appeasing bullies NEVER NEVER works
it just makes them want MORE

don't trust the politicians who want "peace in our time"
cuz it just means "war in the future"

I agree with this, my point was rather that we're doing well with our current position on the Ukraine conflict, supplying Ukraine but letting them defend their country. At the moment they are not folding or falling back. We're still awaiting to see if they will (be able) to counterstrike. At the moment no Counter-offensive has commenced, they are getting loads of Leopard 2 tanks sent to them from lots of EU countries on top of our Challenger 2 tanks. So that in theory should give them counter offensive capabilities. As yet nothing yet though, so what's the score? It seems to me that countries like Denmark and the Netherlands suddenly coming in and giving more Leopard 2 tanks is of interest. Is there panic now ensuing in EU countries that Ukraine may be starting to buckle. Just the other day the US said they are sending more hardware that way. But it's been a year now and while Ukraine has had many successes are they now starting to get fatigued and war weary? Could Stoltenberg's announcement signify even more than it said, a shift towards NATO armies itself getting involved in Ukraine???

Farage I generally have a good opinion off, he's a straight talking guy and has always come of as pretty decent to me. I don't think he's the type to have vested interests. He stepped back from politics after leading the Brexit Party as he wanted out, mission accomplished. He now anchors on GB News and does well enough financially on there. Others of course do exist who are Russian influence aligned but I don't believe he is one of them. I think he's concern is that we (the UK) don't get dragged into this Ukraine conflict directly which he may see happening.

It may be that there are some out there that believe now that based on what they see on the Russian troop build up situation that at some point only a direct involvement by EU/NATO/Western nations can win the war in Ukraine. Otherwise Ukraine will start sapping the west financially and militarily as it becomes a constant situation that it needs to prop up.
