'A New Beginning in Texas'
« on: April 15, 2007, 08:19:07 AM »
Hello 'Everyone'.... Anna and I have been home in Texas for almost a week now! So far, it seem's as though Anna, is not having any problems adjusting to her new home!  We returned from Kharkov very late Tuesday night but, early the next morning, Anna wasted very little time in changing.....what once was a 'bachelor's environment'....to one of a 'Woman' lives here now!!! ;D  We went to the super market and later that evening we bar b que'd together.....  Anna, answered my concerns about the outdoor 'critters' we have here...as she attempted to catch several 'lizards' during her exploration's of her new environment. ;)  Friday, Anna went to work with my mother and she seemed to enjoy the day.....and she had no problem going to sleep that night! Before we went to bed, I warned her that we would be having some possibly 'severe thunder storms' by early Saturday morning.....she said 'no problem'.....we have thunder and lightning in Ukraine!!!......judging from the 'claw' marks in my arms....I guess that she has not quite felt thunder that shake's the whole house and lightning that can blind one's vision like we have in the south? :o

Wayne,
Glad to hear you are back safely and Anna is gettin' along well.  We have those storms here in GA too..  shake the foundations of reality for sure!  ;D  Did she only TRY to nab a lizard? or did she actually succeed??  :D  I won't mention a mild interest in the reptilian population being responsible for the attraction to a certain man.. heh j/k

I wish you both well!!

Wishing the two of you, the same kind of fun and relationship I see in my son & Russian born daughter, as well as that great grandson Basil.

By the way, Basil did choose Stanford and will be headed WEST, next fall.

Wayne and Anna,

Congratulations on your new beginning... I wish you all the very best and will look forward to hearing your updates as Anna settles in (and your home evolves).

For those of us that are yet to marry your stories will give hope - for those already married I'm sure they will provide reflection - and for you I hope your experiences provide much joy.

Congrats again,

Kuna

Welcome back, Wayne and give a warm welcome to Anna as well.  I was wondering how long you would be back before you had time to do us a note.  What have you been doing the past three days?   ;)

Wayne and Anna-

Best wishes and happiness to you both.  I remember the downpours and thunderstorms when I lived in Houston(graduated from U. of H.)  I am still waiting patiently for moscow embassy to set up my Marina's interview. It seems to be dragging. Can't make plans until they will finally get a date.   Welcome to USA Anna. -jj

Anna and I wanted to thank ya'll for your warm wishes.  We started the beginner's driving Tuesday and all went well while we were driving in the church parking lot......but, then we got on our street doing about 20mph and a car was coming the other way....Anna was saying oohhh mama and I was saying slow down as she was getting faster and faster.......finally I had to step over and try to hit the brakes to slow us down and get to the side of the road....as the on coming car passed us...looking at us as if we were 'crazy'.....We both got out of the truck holding our hearts as if 'the big one was coming'.....and then we busted out laughing ;D  Needless to say that the driving lessons were over for the day :clapping:

Legal and Scott, Anna calls our riding lawn mower her 'mashina' and she very much like's the 'John Deere' colors I guess? Anna mowed most of the grass this week.....but, she was not willing to conform to a normal 'go forward and mow as you go' method.....like a square or circle.....instead she would mow a strip forward and then back up maybe 100 yards move over and begin to mow forward again :noidea: I would shrug my shoulders at her....and she would wave me off saying 'is no problem' :toocool:....so I guess that I need to buy double the gasoline for her to mow ???

Wayne- nice story and
Best wishes to you both!

on the driving LOL
hey luckly , i had Tanya take  extensive driving lessions when my wife was still in ukraine..and then paid just to rent a car there for her to practice..
it was some of the best investments i have ever made!! ;)
for a few reasons..
mainly so she could arrive and drive right away confidently and ease her tranasition..
and perhaps just as importantly to save me some years off my life and grey hair of teaching her and going thru the driving learning curve here .

Groove LMAO!
i can't believe you just did that to wayne !
yes we listen to that here almost daily as well, three years now ;)

Hey Wayne....you can import those MP3 files into iTunes and then export them to a format that will play in your car or home sterio....

And say-- it's time for you to give us an update on how life in Houston is going!

Cheers,
