The paperwork is completed, the visa arrived and in three weeks I head off to get married in Russia Feb 11th. It has been quite a journey. Never easy, certainly not cheap but well worth the effort. She is beautiful, intelligent and life will never be dull. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice along the way. I will let you know how my trip to Russia goes!

Only two days of freedom left!

survived the incredible bureaucratic nightmare that is the Canadian and Russian government. A scary winter flight back and forth across from Vladivostok to Sakhalin island and now experiencing Russia for the first time. Wedding is on friday morning and of course I am very excited. It is the end of one part of our journey and the beginning of another.
I am loving Russia but wish I could speak more Russian.

Well I made it! I am a married man and enjoyed my first experience to Russia. Without question the greatest trip of my life. Yes it is very different than Canada but I envied many parts of their lives. Everything went smoothly and now on the immigration to Canada.
The people were very nice, I defended Canada's honor in the vodka challenge. Struggled a bit with the food where I was but that is because it was largely fish or chicken. Not the easiest journey from the day we met until now and I caution any newcomers but I am so glad I pushed forward.

heck no! Canadian Whisky! They brought out the homemade vodka and got nervous when I kept drinking beer. Told me only a Russian could do that! Last man standing , first up in the morning!

Congratulilations on making the marriage. As for struggling with food, just keep on trying the crazy Russian dishes and yu will get to enjoy them.
