Theories of Life and Balance
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:50:34 AM »

Western societies are not structured in a way to make life easy for couples with children, in most ways.  Popular culture also is focused around "me, me, me", for both young women and young men.

I think the diversity of Western societies, and tolerance of different lifestyles is a good thing.  However, there is a lack of balance.

It seems to me that western societies are structured just fine.  What further changes do you feel are necessary to balance out society?   My feeling is the structure is in place, if people don't utilize what is there that is their choice.

I'm not exactly sure what she means by 'balance'. I agree that individuals can choose to create balance in their lives, but it often has to fight against various pressures- the financial need to have two jobs, the need for quality time with family members, the need for a degree of individual autonomy, etc.
