Delta canceled my flight. I called Delta and they said talk to the agency you bought the ticket from. Delta Amsterdam to Kyiv.

For some strange reason KLM emailed me and said my flight to Kyiv was canceled but my flight clearly was on Delta.

KLM announced a couple of days ago they were cancelling all flights to UA. KLM is an "Alliance" partner of Dela among other airlines. For example you can schedule a flight through Delta and fly to the destination on Air France.

Thanks muzh,

I was fairly certain as I had a airmiles card with them years ago,but was to lazy too look up the partnered members of that alliance.

If all flights are off to Ukraine then it's possible to fly to Krakow in Poland then get the train to Lviv then the train to Kiev, you might be able to get a train that follows on to Kiev. It will take longer of course and I would leave plenty of time between flight arrival and getting the train and also the connection train from the Polish railway to the Ukrainian railway that connect at the border town. Polish trains can be late so the trains don't always connect as scheduled. It's not the easiest route, be prepared for lots of bag searching, passport checking by border guards on both the Polish and Ukrainian side, particularly Ukrainian. It's way easier to fly in but if that is off the menu and you really must be there I guess it is a route in & out.

You can buy the train tickets for both Polish Railway & Ukraine Railway online.

My Kyiv flight leg has been canceled by the airlines. What to do now. Just got off the phone with my friends in Kyiv and they alerted me that Russians are withdrawing some of their troops from the border.

Apparently you didn't read my post from a couple days ago!!! #16

The Amsterdam-Moscow leg has had many issues since last summer. Netherlands was one of the last countries flights in Europe to be accepted by Russia. A couple friends had to fly from AMS to Paris and then fly into Moscow since those flights were accepted at that time, a little out of the way but doable.

After 3 trips canceled last year I ended flying Aeroflot direct into Russia avoiding any European city

After 5 canceled trips in almost 2 years, I learned never to use an agency to book flights again. It took several months to get issues resolved and never full refund aount.
It is so much easier talking to someone and quickly getting a rebooking or refund (some give e-credits) directly with airlines if an issue arises.

Booked new flights through Delta and bypassed discount websites. I was able to book same hotel through Delta cheaper than Bookings.com and I got miles.  :)

I'll be able to see two more Muscovites now since I'm no longer hanging out in Kyiv.

I used Jetabroad.com - an Australian outfit - their customer service sucks. They say the flight to Kyiv is still on and happening.

I was booked on Delta to Kyiv from Amsterdam but KLM notified me the flight was canceled. The KLM flight information they showed was different from my Delta flight itinerary so I called Delta and they said it was canceled and that I would have to call my agency or travel site to get any recourse. Well Jetabroad didn't see it as canceled. Fash forward 2 days and Jetabroad's system finally saw it as canceled and explained that KLM and Delta codeshare.

Which airline cancelled your flight out of curiosity?  We are flying to KBP via Istanbul in May on Turkish, so I wanted to know?

Camera Guy are you still set on going out to Moscow & Kyiv? :D

I do hope this trip report isn't ending before it's started.

I got partial credit for my canceled flight to Kyiv.

Definitely not going to Kyiv. My friends there are finally worried.

I'm just going to Moscow.

My original and main girlfriend (on hold) is in Ukraine. I would still like to spend some time alone with her to get a glimpse of what to expect for our future life together. But who knows how long this situation will last.

Well I'm guessing you already know that the US has said that all of its citizens should leave Russia for their safety as westerners are likely targets out there for aggression & difficulties from Russian citizens, Russian Police, Border Force, etc, etc. Up to you if you still want to go but not sure how long it might be before further sanctions may be brought against Russia if they press on with the invasion, i.e visa's withdrawn, ban on flights to & from Russia, etc.

I'm surprised you are still keeping things going with the other original girl CG, despite all what has been said in here, are you still paying her the $500 a month?

Like I said before enjoy a trip away with her if you wish it could be fun but I doubt there is a long term relationship there for you.

Are you down as her guy on social media?

I don't want to be stuck in Moscow and not be able to get home. I expect Delta will let me know my Amsterdam to Moscow is canceled soon.

Sure.  Because your desire for (sponsored) sex is just as important than the lives of innocent people getting slaughtered.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten
