here’s a dug British coin, found with an old White’s 6000D metal detector
at the time, probably the ONLY one in Ukraine/Russia

this was found inside the area, that was once a British Field Hospital
in Sevastopol, at the base of the hill of St Vladimir church
Florence Nightengale tended to the sick and dying there

I read about the site in a period book, and went to find it
it was easy, because the perimeter of the tent field hospital was surrounded by a ring of rocks
WHICH WAS STILL THERE!!

this particular site is littered with metallic relics, some are thousands of years old
the Crimean War layer is only a few inches down
most WWII stuff, is literally laying on top of the ground, no metal detector needed, just sharp eyes

what a great way to spend the day with my girls!
I’d find the targets and they’d dig them out with plastic shovels

if I did it by myself sans daughters, it was a great way to meet wimmin
cuz there were just a few metal detectors of any kind in Crimea

I remember a super hot blond woman in lederhosen style shorts from Saint Petersburg, in her mid 20s
nicest, toned legs, I EVER SAW
I let her use the detector, and gave her one of my finds
DAY-YAM was she HOT!!!!
broke my heart to say das va danya to her
sweet face, big blue eyes, pouty lips, perfect skin
just WOW!

As a child, the better half and his cousin used to dig up ancient coins all the time.  The oldest was an Arab coin.  He said Greek coins were the most common, dating from before the 15th century.  They used to play with them.  They had no value in the USSR.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

He also found (and shot) a German machine gun, until the bullets were gone, found German bayonets and knives, German war medals, German army shovels (excellent quality).  While playing, they even found a fully dressed German officer's skeleton when a building was being demolished (he had been killed and stuffed between two walls).  One of the boys took his boots (which were almost like new), they took his gun and shot it until the bullets were gone.  They found so many grenades, which they used to throw, he can't even count them.  It was also not uncommon to find human skulls.

When he was a young teen, his father found his "stash" of German weapons.  It would have meant 25 years in jail if found by authorities, so they were all confiscated and thrown away, in an outhouse.

where else can you find a ukrainian coin, a soviet coin, and a Crimean war French coin all within 3 feet of each other...
typical day after a rain in Crimea

for every coin, found 10 bullets, or pieces of bullets
only one artillery shell that I ended up dumping in the black sea
