Most electronics are well shielded underground in those silos, basically metal tubes covered or suspended in concrete (Faraday cage), and the technology used is from the '60-'70s era which is not so sensitive to EMP.

Keep an old tube radio in your closet and an old 60's 70's car in the garage and they'll work just fine afterward.

A high altitude nuke exploding would F#CK up a lot of stuff for sure.
The Chinese spy balloon was at 60,000 feet. It would need to be at
least 60 miles high to do the significant damage that you are eluding
to. It would not affect nukes in the mountains of Colorado or 900 feet
below the surface of the Pacific Ocean.

I have no special knowledge, but mainland USA can't be invaded. The
geography makes it undoable.

Attacking the USA from South America is impossible. The logistics involved
would be totally mind boggling. The roads from South America to the USA
are insufficient to move the men, beans, bullets and fuel of a significant force.

No country has the physical blue water navy to transport a million men
across either ocean to North or South America and million men wouldn't
be enough.

A million men traveling from South America would starve/die of thirst before
arriving to the US border. It's too far to travel with too little infrastructure.

Even if a military force of a million men with battle tanks and helocopters
arrived at the US Southern border today with full tanks of gas, it would be
suicide for the invaders. They would be pinned down and destroyed almost
immediately.

I don't know why I even spent the time outlining why it couldn't happen.

and it'd be easy for china to field a device 100X bigger than the USA's test device for their balloon and boost it further with a lot of "enhancements" and still fit it on their weather balloon...
what if it were "possible" to do a pre-emptive first strike on the USA this way
first with EMP weapons against our own nukes
then the main mega EMP that takes down the entire grid
