Seems like a long way to travel to just eat at McDonalds !!  :-)

lmshima57 said he was pickpocketed at McDonalds. He said the woman talking to him and poking him was good at what she does. Actually she is not a good pickpocket. She was distracting him so somebody else can pickpocket.

Pickpocket teams look for easy targets. They look for pockets easy to access and that has something in it. It's wise to put valuables in pockets not visible or easy to access. When something is going on near you that isn't normal like a woman poking you in the chest and showing the inside of her purse, be aware it may be a tactic to draw your attention away from another event.

He comments on pick pockets -- and Muslims  -- chances are that they were Roma ( Gypsies) who are extremely active in that type of robbery.

Roma in Ukraine historically were not pickpockets.  They begged, they traded, and they stole.  Many are artists, not involved in crime at all.


Roma are pickpockets in Western Europe, notably France, but those Roma are from Romania.   


There is a restaurant in Kyiv, across from the Opera House, where pickpockets have gathered for over four decades.  I was surprised they're still gathering there.  Not a Roma among them.
