Христос воскрес!
Anyone know the reply?
I was told what to say as we banged our boiled eggs together. I quickly forgot. We then ate pasha (Easter cake) decorated with small jelly beans and miniature candy coated chocolate eggs.
I thought my ex-wife, a Catholic, had demonstrative rituals for Easter. The Orthodox wife takes it to a new level.
Saturday was spent cleaning the whole house. Wifey made three pasha cakes and I went to a specialty store to find appropriate candy to decorate the cake. She also boiled white eggs in onion skin, and it gave them the shells a color similar to brown eggs. So why not buy brown eggs?! Answer: She is a traditionalist and this is the way her mama did it.
Saturday evening wifey and her daughter went to Easter service at a Russian orthodox church. The service started at midnight and lasted 4-5 hours!!!!!!! Wifey feels that her soul and spirit have been revitalized.
Her mother and father are very close. Her father being a good patriot of the Soviet government is an atheist, and her mother a devout worshiper. They have two daughters. My wife's older sister is also an atheist, yet the young sister who worked internationally is religious.
Later today wifey walked slowly around each room of our home with a burning candle. The candle blessed the house and made it Godly clean.
