This afternoon a violent eruption occurred at Stromboli's volcano, unfortunately causing the death of a tourist.

Stromboli is the northernmost island of the Eolie archipelago, close to Sicily:

Mount Stromboli has been in almost continuous eruption for the past 2,000 years, but rarely with violent phenomenons.
In July 1996, while on a 2-week sailboat cruise of the archipelago with friends, I had the opportunity of going up near the volcano summit and watch its spectacular activity from a safe distance :D.

about two months ago I was at the Irazu Volcano, in Costa Rica....
took the tour that went all the way down to the lake
petted some tame Coati that ate my sandwich
found some weird mineral specimens and volcanic glass

Costa Rica is like Ukraine!
it has Resident prices and Tourist prices
tourist prices cost more!

Huge sinkholes in Virginia and a  couple of other states... http://www.foxnews.com/us/sinkhole-virginia-swallows-car-video
I saw a report that honey bees are rapidly declining in number... http://tinyurl.com/yyllrsk3
Isn't that enough for now?
