So I wanted to briefly to return to this topic as I recently had a major breakthrough in understanding these women. I say in the FSU but it was actually a UK relationship forum where I saw this. I don't usually look on UK relationship dating forums all that much these days but just so happened to at a time a tread came up about a UK girl who felt she had 'settled for less'. It transpired that she meant that the guy she was with was not giving her gifts like other guys. Her friends all had guys that were lavishing them with gifts and she felt hard done by by not getting much from her guy.
To me if someone said they settled for less I would tend to think a person who was not of good character, personality or socially, or maybe a person not very successful in life. I had never really equated it to materialism. Hearing such sounds a lot like a girl wants to be bought and not compatible with the ideas of love as I've been accustomed to.
However, this girl seemed straight up and serious. I find it a bizarre outlook but I think it's the same outlook that can be found in the FSU, Ukraine indeed. I think this is what I encountered with the girl I was with from Kherson a couple of years ago. Also I think it is what another forum member encountered recently. He had a girl who was asking him for stuff and he aquisesed to be nice to her, it went beyond dating entertainment experiences and he wasn't getting any sex from her. In that respects she was not so much transactional. I think the word that sums up both girls would be materialistic, such girls are likely to go almost transactional like if it means their materialism can be satisfied but if they can get stuff without giving back in some way (not necessarily just sex/love) in some way they are likely to try to do so.
Such girls as ventured in the previous discussion don't seem to go the whole hog of agency/scammer girl even though it is likely more lucrative and would get them what they want. They seem to want to be reliant on the guy to provide it in a relationship. In that respects it's the goods AND a relationship they want rather than a agency girl/scammer who really just wants the goods and is not really looking for a relationship. Whether these girls can form a decent relationship with guys like the less/non materialistic girls I don't know, Krimster seems to have managed it but I know of the guy cannot come up with the goods (literally!) as can be seen here then there may be some strain start to be exerted on the relationship.
It does look though that while some may wish to give such materialistic girls a wide berth they may be capable of a relationship, if not an easy one. So carefully handling of them, perhaps trying to keep their mind of material goods I'm guessing might be worth a try.
