Dan, you have a gorgeous little lady!
Dan, you have a gorgeous little lady!
Just Yankin' your chain, she's a cutie!!! I'm jealous!!!:)
Nothing and nobody stop you to make one yourself ! So, at work Richard ;)
It's been a long while since either of us had a new baby around the household, but here's our Russian 17 year old baby, Lenara:
Maybe I need to take up a collection!!!
At times she is a little angel. At others (like ALL of last night!) - a fractious banshee
Thanks for all the compliments about Lenara. It's been a pleasure to help raise her the past 3 years as she's extremely low-maintenance, and an honor student. She's had trouble making many American friends, and usually her night out will be with a more than a dozen Russian/Armenian/Moldovan kids of both genders - they fill an entire row at the moviehouse, and several tables at Chi-Chi's afterwards. Many of these kids looked forward to becoming teenagers in the FSU - and for one reason or another, wound up in North Carolina - where, apparently, there are no venues for them to dance - they organize their own parties and dance to reggaeton.
Because my first wife could not bear children, we decided to adopt, and ended up with two healthy daughters, 4 years apart. Adoption's not for everyone - we had to think long and hard about all aspects. In 1983 we visited an orphanage in the Houston area - that visit sealed it - we did not see how we could survive without blessing ourselves with one of these children. Even back then, I liked things Russian, so we named our first daughter Lara, who's now almost 20. She's half English, and half Norwegian, and as it turns out she looks alot like my 3 sisters. Lara and I are as close as a father and daughter can be. Here's my firstborn, my Lara....
This is probably the best thread I've seen on any RW message board.
I think this is what it is all about, Happy families and beautiful children. I especially like seeing the photos of the little one. i do not have any little ones at the moment but Yulia and i are working on it :D But I do have two sons from my previous marriage. Being the proud Papa that I am, I wanted in to include my " monkeys". The guy in the middle is not me, he is the hunting guide. I took the photo.

Our education system is utterly devestated (due to liberals mostly) because they are trying to make everyone equal when there is NO ONE equal.Couldn't agree more...
Is it really possible for a child from the FSU to be an honor roll student with a language barrier?Yes, it is possible. How was your step-son doing back home? May be your expectations of him are too high? Not every sudent in US is an honor student, it goes for locals as well.
I have a reason for asking this based on my step son's experiences in the US. I don't think some teachers have the time or motivation to try to teach someone who is not completely passive andmalleable. Maybe I am wrong.
If the kid isn't getting it it is either a communication problem or the teacher not being willing to rethink their teaching method for the child. The ESL teachers I am sure are trying but the teachers in regular non ESL classes seem not to have the time.

For those who would wish their child to have a constructive & productive childhood, LMAO.:D

I can be stressed out to the max.. ready to explode and a hug from this little fellow cures all..I can believe that! And this little fellow is sooo cute!
Mamma D, I am very curious, are you a Russian woman transplanted to the US? I seem to remember you might have mentioned that your son is involved or married to a Russian Woman. It is refreshing to hear feedback from you because you are female and of a different generation than many of the guys who post here.
Ours at 2.5.. I can be stressed out to the max.. ready to explode and a hug from this little fellow cures all..
I sure do miss not having little ones anymore.

Lana Salem, just turned 18 mos. Mother Olga, 28, from Krivoy Rog Ukraine (just as pretty and just as sweet). Some of the old-timers may recall my series of articles about the pregnancy.
Uh, Don..... I think there may be something you could do about that.... I mean, if you are REALLY missing them.Teenagers are the punishment for having sex some odd years ago. I’m at that stage. ;DLooks like I have to get his (my son’s) permission for using MY car. :-\
Careful though, LP reminds me that he calls them "two-legged tumors".

Speaking of children, do you guys favor giving Russian or English names to your kids? I'm thinking of a compromise of 1 Russian and English each on any future kids. ;D
We clearly settled on a Russian name (Ekaterina).
And Olya has done a PHENOMENAL job of teaching her Russian language (just as an aside). She moves fluidly back-and-forth between English and Russian - and even acts as interpreter for her older siblings. Pretty cute to watch.

Sounds that another language have that we don't hear and pattern when we were very young are difficult to re-create later on.Unless polygloxy is a family tradition, and maybe a musical ear, too.

But, can you believe I was as blond as him when i was a little girl?Yes, since I was, too (though not as a little GIRL ;) ;D).
She doesn't like it there as much as she used to and feels very out of place.
We did manage to reschedule her return date and they will be coming back July 23rd instead of August 28th.
Been a while since putting up any pics! Here's Kolya on his new bike just a few days after school let out for the summer :DJet, that smile on Kola's face shows he is having fun. Hmmm.... is it because of the new bike or because school is out for summer?
Little girls grow bigger every day

What was your not so little dyevushka's feelings about returning to her mother country? Did it speak to her soul?
Vaughn - she is cute beyond words. I imagine you are going to have your hands more than full in the not-so-distant future - if you don't already.
It's about time you print out a bunch of copies of the 10 Rules for dating your daughter. Give it to her so she can pass it out to the boys who are thinking about dating her.
Tamara has become a little girl now :) Full time at the Montessori Nursery School from January 2008. My she has grown quickly...
Leslie, Tamara is sooo cute! It's amazing how quick they grow...
Guys, I haven't been here for a long while... it's nice to know you all are doing well and it's a pleasure, as always, to see your wonderful children and spouses... I wish you all the very best!

Here are a couple photos from this past summer.
We are doing fine - and Katya is an incredible blessing.
- Dan
Hi Mischief. How are you? Long time. Still in Queens? (or was it Brooklyn, I forgot ::)). Happy to see the new addition and I hope all are doing well.
They are my pride- Vladimir and Dmitry, my sons
Uh-oh - I see my bandwidth and storage limits taking a beating with this topic. :hairraising:
Oh well - here is our little one.
[just joking about the bandwidth and storage - please post away]
Fiona's fleeting smile caught on camera today:
Our little Angel was born three days ago. Mom and baby are home now :)
Life is good :) :) :)
Not much sleep around here. Recovery time is when the little girl is asleep, which is between feedings.
The old dog, almost deaf, takes great interest in the little girl, staying by her in whatever room she is in.

Simoni,
Congratulations, what a beautiful little girl!
What is her name?
These days will soon pass....and so will the coming months and years.Very wise words, Mamma D. Thank you for sharing.
Saver them while they are here ... for the day will come much to soon when you will fervently wish you could hold .....Just one short moment in your hands.
These are truly gifts from God... Entrusted to us for a short while.
The goal is to have one a little bit naughty....but not too naughty! An angel in training ... but still a child of this life.....and ours to ho;d and hug....
And one day they will leave with a smile and a wave.....and your heart will forever go with them. May they be strong mature adults contributing to society and their world.
One of the sweetest moments in life, is to rock a sleeping child and feel the warmth of love shared.....
Mamma D :)
Congrats Simoni
Life will get worse now that the little princess is home... but you will still enjoy it.
Si,
Gorgeous!

Thanks! Hard to tell yet; some angles look more like Daddy and some more like me.
Just saw the first hint of a smile a few minutes ago, after nursing :-)
And she looks at me with a probing stare, wondering "where am I, and who is he?" LOL
Not much sleep around here. Recovery time is when the little girl is asleep, which is between feedings.

She is adorable. It is obvious - mama's genes. When are you planning to record the first album? :)
A child makes life worth living … and I thought it would be nice if you, guys, could post the pictures of your children… I know Leslie and Bruce have had a new baby recently, would be great to look at these bundles of joy!
Here is mine :D :
October is a big month for us. We celebrated four years together on October 5.
And later this month, our daughter will be eight months old. That is 2/3 of a year old!
We had a baby sitter for the first time on Oct. 5, and enjoyed a nice dinner and movie.
Mama survived :-)
Here is our little girl at seven months:

I have a question but I don't want to read all the previous posts and maybe find nothing. It depends on the Service Center where the petition would be filed. For example, in California SC it will be (in the right column petitions from that date are being in the process now)
My wife has a 27 year old daughter and I was wondering if anyone knows the visa wait from Russia for her. I saw yesterday from the Phillipines it was 23.5 years :o
