I did vote in this poll, I don't usually because I find the nature of most questionaires to be too personal in nature.

However I was surprised to see 11 married guys myself.

Jet,

Donna Pedro is registered here so Lilya and yourself are not alone!

Oh and don't forget Marc Dayton he has been happily married for a while now.

I don't think all our married members have voted in this pole.  Reckon Bruce is right we have around 20 registered.

The few odd times I have had a glance at "the other" board reveals the reasons for this. Most posts there are so bizarre as to defy description.

Jack is right, the bias is definitely pro-advertisement, and it is a business after all.

Take it for what it's worth.

Hey jb and Fred, not sure what discussion board you two are referring two but often when you get a Russian discussion board who has paying advertisors, those paying advertisors do NOT want to see anything negative said about them!  Bad for business to have some truths exposed. And so negative things are removed, people who post such reports are banned. Moderators pump up the paying advertisor sites. And who suffers?  The newby's, the new guys just starting out who think they have found a good and honest source for information that will help them in the pursuit for a Russian bride. And many times they are lead to the slaughter house. On the RWD you want to report a scammer with any particular agency, or you want to report some shady doings but a suspect agency, no problem as long as you are willing to stand by your facts.

Regarding the poll, I did not vote as my way of finding my bride was not listed.

I ran personal newspapers ads for the last 1.5 years of my pursuit and to correspond with each trip before I found my bride. I would meet ladies of interest that replied from the newspaper ads, TV ads, agencies and buying addresses, a combination of many different means and methods. My bride responded from a newspaper ad I ran in the early spring of 99.

How about initiating another poll now for longevity of marriages and the exact same poll in 5 years?

I have heard of one guy who has been married to a RW going on 11 years now.

Is 5 years the benchmark to a successful union?

Maybe RWD is more of a family atmosphere than that other board that I used to post on.

What's so funny jb?

Clyde asked "Is 5 years the benchmark to a successful union?"

One man's opinion here but I think if you can spend only 2 good years with a Russian woman, then they were two blessed years.

If you only spend 3 good years with a Russian woman, they were 3 years of ecstasy.

If one were to spend 4 good years with a Russian woman, they would have to be 4 vivacious years.

If a man were to be able to spend 5 good years married to a Russian women they would be exhilarating years.

For those fortunate men who have been married for 6 years to a Russian woman, I could only imagine them to be invigorating.

A man married for seven happy years to a Russian woman, eight years, nine years, ten years or more, I would call you one of the luckiest men in the world.

This discussion was touched upon lightly sometime ago. How many years must one be married to a Russian women to constitute a successful marriage? The answer to this I think could be as varied as the write one visit one, write many visit many debate, or how many years difference is too many years, you will get a hundred different opinions and viewpoints.

If my marriage of over five years ended next week, they would be the best five years I ever had. They would have been wonderful, fulfilling, exciting, educational years.

We often see marriages of 20 years coming apart, ending in divorce. Can we say that it was a terrible marriage? Probably not. It was probably many years of a good marriage. Maybe not 19 years, maybe not 18 years, as when most marriages do come apart there is usually some un-pleasant times towards the end.

I think if a man was happily married to a Russian woman for three years and it ended, it may have been the best three years of his life and more than likely he would hop on that pony and try to ride it again, meaning he would probably try to find another Russian wife, this time being a little more educated as to the ways of a Russian woman.

We are all sadden by divorce but the days of 30, 40, 50 year marriages are not so often anymore. What constitutes a successful marriage? I think the answer is as long as the two parties were happy with each other.

I don't think that longevity of marriage can show the successful union... some people stay together same if strong problem exist... i have stay 5 year with my ex but problem have appear the first year... but i find my previous marriage a success... he have allow me to have more maturity, to know what is the main goal in my life... and i was a good father... yes, if i have stay so long with my ex, it was because of the child...

And why see it at level of RW... i think that if your marriage longevity is up the medium longevity of marriage in your own country, it is already some kind of success...

In any case, my marriage time was a good time and i have no regret to have marry my ex... and i hope that the next one will be good and long... the only difference between the first and next one is that i am better ready to marry now, that i know some problem who can appear with foreign marriage...

Imho if you can say you both are happy at the two year point of a RW/AM relationship it's a success. Most should have survived the initial adjustment stress by this time.  How much longer the relationship lasts afterwards depends on the amount of work the couple is willing to do to maintain their relationship in balance.

The two years is my experience and has nothing to do with green card timing. My wife has her EU 'green card' (permanent residency status) for quite a while now.

I met Elena through an agency but we did not prewrite. I went to an agency while I was in Omsk as the ones that I had written to were not what I was looking for. I had a few days left in town so though "What the hell" and to my amazement met the lady who blessed me with her hand and heart. We married in January of this year.

I suspect your experience may be more typical than a lot of people would like to admit.  I'd like to see you to develop a thread outlining the steps and hurdles you have encountered.  It might prove enlightning and informative to others.

That's a good idea. Hopefully I'll learn something to help me out with the coming hurdles!

Hi All,

Chuck in D.C. here. My wife and I will be celebrating one year of marriage in early June!  :D

In terms of longevity, many of you know that there's a group of Russian/American married couples in the D.C. area. Here are the stats on marriages for the group:

We have one couple married in 1994, one married in 1997, three married in 1998,  two married in 1999, three married in 2000, four couples married in 2001, four married in 2002, two married in 2003, eight married last year,  and two married so far this year (including RWD's own Ken and Elena).
