Title: Do you have a will?

Several people recently have left this life [due to the pandemic] without providing a legal document assigning their estate.
In this event, the state [in my case Texas] will have the property/inheritance settled in a probate court.
Who knows....creditors could come crawling out of the woodwork with their hands out.
Chadwick Boseman [film star] died a couple of months ago. I understand from the news just today that he did not leave a will.
That left his wife scrambling to obtain an attorney just to look out for her interests.
You do not have to get a lawyer to draft a will. You can find examples on line.
You find a couple of upstanding witnesses... appear before a notary public and they sign off on the notarized document.
Make several copies for your family.

Yes, both wife and I have wills.
However, in our case the wills are not much needed.
Reason:  All real estate (in USA), vehicles and bank accounts show joint ownership with right of survivorship.  i.e. they transfer automatically to survivor.
Properties owned in Ireland and Ukraine are in her name only.
And wife is listed as beneficiary on all my retirement accounts.

I/we don't have much, but 'we' have a trust account in the event both of us flew to rainbow bridge. For myself, everything in my life and being, with an exception of small trust I gathered for my nieces and nephews - wifey have full beneficiary, savings, 401Ks, real estate properties, etc...
