In August, Kazakhstan allowed the Tenge and the US Dollar to "free float" - as a result, the Tenge lost about 40% in value against the USD, which has strengthened globally.

Now they are going from having a 10K Tenge to a new, 20K Tenge, bill.

Similar situation developed in Turkey.

Then they chopped off several zeros a few years back.
