Many times I have heard, on here, of guys going to a city and sitting in a hotel room.  I have never been that kind of guy.  But for those who are, I happened across a website that might offer an alternative to those whose only goal is to meet the woman of their dreams.

I get emails from time to time, of people in Eastern Europe offering their services.  I was interested to see someone note that they worked for Showaround.com.  Not having heard of this before, I took a quick perusal of those guides available in Kyiv.  It looks like a fun cross section of people I might like to have show me Kyiv.

I remember the first time I went to Kyiv.  I was met by this blonde goddess who spent the day taking me to places that were accessible only if you knew where to look.  We went to the opera house and listened to a spring concert which included some of my favorite renditions of classic music.  Knowing how much I enjoyed it, she then took me to a private concert of classical music.  She had offered the manager of the hotel a gratuity to give me honored seating.  I could never have managed such in a foreign city.  To this day, we remain friends and she and her family will visit us in Los Angeles sometime next year.  I hope that I will be capable enough to return the favor she bestowed on me those many years ago.

I can imagine that it is not even a hiccup for most guys to pay out a $500 retainer for a day learning the city.  I can think of worse uses of my money.

At the risk of flaunting a picture, here is Marina who charges 28 Euros per hour to show you her city.



I am curious if anyone has used this service in Kyiv (or any other city).

Never heard of or used that particular service but I went a similar route my first trip. Hired a good looking terp to play tour guide should things not work out for me.

I found this site to be quite interesting...... talk about being transparent!!!!

I did use Showaround in Kiev when I visited there in October - I was there for a full day and two nights, and I hired a guide called Anna from Showaround. She was a wonderful (friendly and professional) and we had a really nice tour....The question or romance did not arise, but I guess it would with some guides on the site. Anyway, I'd recommend using it to find a guide...
