Sandro43, a superb choice, meaning the whole album.  I have all his vinyl albums, and actually saw him heading the Stax/Volt European tour of 1967 (?). (It was the 60s, so my memory's shot!)
Don't start me on memories :D, when I was living in London in 1971 I had the good fortune of attending a concert at the Victoria Palace Theatre featuring THIS duo:

Boney M, a pop and disco group, was very popular in Soviet Russia, I remember a vinyl disc we had, and my mother and I very often started our mornings with their songs. But the song Rasputin of course was forbidden   ;)

so.. one day I had to deliver an original piece of furniture that had been ordered through one of the galleries I used to show in.. way up on the top of a hill in Marin county... get to this huge house.. ring the bell.. really hot blonde with exceptional assets answers the door.. she sends me around the back.. "they are in the studio"  So, I get around back.. knock on the door.. go inside to discover a state of the art recording studio... guess who?
Ha! But I bet you were not asked to participate in a recording session :D.

Back in October 1978 (prét-à-porter season in Milan) I was returning home from dinner at a restaurant when I noticed a crowd at the entrance of a old downtown mansion. Out of curiosity I parked nearby, ventured inside, saw the end of a fashion show and bumped into a Brazilian colleague and his wife, who asked me if I had any programs for the rest of the night. Hearing I had none, they invited me to join them at Castello di Carimate (some 30 Km NW), then equipped with an advanced 24-track recording studio, where their friend Robero Camerini, born in San Paulo and then a rising Italian punk rock star, was finishing an album and needed volunteer help.

I was a bit disappointed when my contribution turned out to be part of the crowd noise for a piece describing the proletarian expropriation of garments in a Fiorucci shop :-[.

LOL no I wasn't, but, those old guys with BIG hair were really wanting me to be staaaar struck.. I was busy.. just wanted to get my stuff delivered and out of there, plus i was never really a Journey fan... I was a lot more impressed when Danielle Steele bought one of my pieces.. and when I did Robin Williams' kitchen in Napa.. but you didn't hear that from me.. ;)  I really was bummed when I did not get the Jerry Rice job...

And in Milan I also had the opportunity of seeing these guys performing live:

Satchmo performed at Teatro Dal Verme with Trummy Young (trombone). I went to see them on two consecutive nights.

The Duke performed at Milan's Conservatory concert hall. I still remember his drummer walking onto the empty stage on unsteady legs, sitting down at his drums to arrange them to his liking, and falling face forward making a hell of a racket - he was stone drunk, but that did not adversely affect his drumming performance later on ;D.

Chet Baker was in Milan when he was arrested and served time in jail for cocaine possession.

Russian movie - rock opera by Alexander Rybnikov "The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta"  based on a poem by Pablo Neruda "Splendor and Death of Joaquin Murieta". If you will find with English subtitles you will not regret  :)

Here's Notre Dame de Paris, a smash hit based on Victor Hugo's novel and composed by Riccardo Cocciante, a French-Italian singer-songwriter born in Saigon to an Italian father and a French mother.

Olga, in my version Quasimodo's singing is stylistically closer to the composer's ;):

A remarkable singing performance:

Barbra holds the same note for 10 long seconds (2:25-2:35), 5 seconds pure and then vibrato.

Our equivalent of Barbra, Mina, a singer with a great range and musical abilities, below in the Italian version of It's A Lonely Town:

My son and I saw Michael Jackson perform at the '93 Superbowl.   What a talent he was-- as a singer, dancer and more.  I told my 3 month old daughter about him today; she loved watching Michael perform Black or White!!!

FOREIGNERS AT SANREMO

As you may know, the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo is held every year in February since 1950. For a long time each song entry was presented by 2 singers, and in the 1960s it became almost a habit to have a foreigner as 2nd singer, usually performing in Italian - with some odd results for our ears ;D. Here are a few examples of these participations:

When I lived in London in 1971, British Telecom had a service called Dial-A-Disc. Mentioning the Beatles below reminded me of a few calls I made then:

Later I'd go to the HMV shop in Oxford Street and buy the record ;).
