Okay... that was amazing.  Can you PM me with the details so I can find more of their work?  The violin work alone blew me away.  And the combination...  Wow.

Their website: http://www.twosiberians.com/
Their CD Out of Nowhere...  it is quite good. Here's a page with more offerings...their band name translates
to White Fort - but for their worldwide debut they chose Two Siberians..

Thank you again.  I have been listening to it, and it reminds me of "Eat a Peach"... (Allman Brothers 1972)  Mixed with a bit of Santana and multinational folk music.  And a blazing violin I can not begin to describe with words.

VERY good!  THANK YOU!

Ten Years After named "I'd Love To Change The World?"

Ahh yah, the classic acoustic sounds....

Well Markus, I'll meet your 10 Years After and raise you , (Falling in and out of love with you), and Mr. Alternate Tuned Acoustic gawd himself ...and last but never least, .

Ok switching to high octane pure fingers on Strats (Before the age of power chords)? My pick, and in this order...

1.
2. ( for some of you, you may remember Trower as the lead guitarist for Procol Harum. I actually took my wife on that '06 HOB concert. Yes, she either really love me to stay through it or I was her only ride home, LOL.
3. . Who can forget Cliffs of Dover?
4. . 14 year old Korean boy. With almost 72 million Youtube hits, how can you go wrong? Even my boy JerryC can't command that much buzz...

...SVR, Steve Kai, Ricthie Blackmore...etc

:offtopic:
I'll confess. I did had long silky black hair that went down past my shoulder blades in my 20s. Use to tie it on pony tails when I played B-Ball or played sports. It was a definite chick-magnet, man. I tried to grow it back-up when I took my first trip to Moscow and met Gator & Co...Now I'm stuck with the silly Ashton Kutcher-cut, per wifey's request.

While you were sittin' home alone at age thirteen
Your real daddy was dyin', sorry you didn't see him, but I'm glad we talked...
Oh I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey, I, I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey I, oh, I'm still alive
Hey...oh...
Oh, she walks slowly, across a young man's room
She said I'm ready...for you
I can't remember anything to this very day

Use the "YouTube" button (second row of buttons, second one over) and place the embed link between the tags it placed.

Indeed, so let's go back to the very roots of Western music with:

970s (Gregorian chant), 370s (Ambrosian chant):

As odd as it might seem based upon my contributions to this thread, I love these... so moving and peaceful.

Sandro, is that you singing tenor?  Or were you just on the original?  (Just teasing, please don't hurt me)  :)

Sorry... I am just wondering how far back this can go... ;)

That's the end of the line, we have no significant extant scores of Roman or pre-Christian Greek music, although we know the structure of the latter's modal music and its diatonic scales, later adopted and modified by the Roman church:
Quote
The church modes originate in the 8th or 9th century. The influence of developments in Byzantium, from Jerusalem and Damascus, for instance the works of Saints John of Damascus (d. 749) and Cosmas of Maiouma (Nikodēmos ’Agioreitēs 1836, 1:32–33) (Barton 2009), are still not fully understood, but are clearly an intermediary development between the various developments in Greece and the eventual developments in the western, Roman Catholic, church. The eight-fold division of the Latin modal system, in a four-by-two matrix, was certainly of Eastern provenance, originating probably in Syria or even in Jerusalem, and was transmitted from Byzantine sources to Carolingian practice and theory during the 8th century. However, the earlier Greek model for the Carolingian system was probably ordered like the later Byzantine oktōēchos, that is, with the four principal (authentic) modes first, then the four plagals, whereas the Latin modes were always grouped the other way, with the authentics and plagals paired
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_mode

The Ambrosian hymnody owes its name to St. Ambrose, bishop and patron of Milan (337/340–397 AD) celebrated on 7th December, the day La Scala opens its operatic season. The Father of Church Song is officially credited with the authorhsip of these hymns:

Although I have some doubts that the above examples adhere to the original. Ambrose is considered to have been influenced by Byzantine and Syrian hymns:
Quote
The first actually to compose hymns was St. Hilary, who had spent in Asia Minor some years of exile from his see, and had thus become acquainted with the Syrian and Greek hymns of the Eastern Church. His Liber Hymnorum has not survived.
You may have noticed how my previous example (Ecce quam bonum et jocundum) sounds more Oriental ;).
