I offered to buy my wife the pelmeni mold/press pictured in this thread. She says she says she prefers "hand-shaped" pelmeni to those made with the press. 1300! Wow! Love pelmeni and most Russian food, though. My wife makes the best borscht I have ever had. I especially like her vegetarian version in the Summer.

Another "lazy" way to make pelmeni is to visit your local chinese/vietnamese/oriental food store and buy premade wrappers.  Not all brands are good, some taste really funny, some are too thin or too thick, so you try a few and see which ones you like. We tried four or five before we found the ones that are right for us.  This is what they may look like

One thousand three hundred Pelmeni in the freezer... one thousand three hundred pelmeni.

take one down, boil it around ... one thousand two hundred ninety - nine Pelmeni in the freezer

I dig the Pelmeni... of course the family was aghast when I added a touch of Kechup to the smetana... but guess what is now a normal mix in the house???  ahhh, the blending of cultures.. it's f'koosna!

Hey... Thirteen hundred pelmeni can't be wrong...    :D

We never get that many, as everyone here enjoys kutabi (sp?) as much (probably more) than the pelmeni.  So much of the dough and fillings end up in that night's dinner.   ;D

How does it compare to...the Spanish gazpacho? Tomatoes in it?

Love eating and making pelmeni.  Once used Chinese dumpling maker, as I was away from home, but they turned out with too much dough on the sides and not really Russian. :)  My record was about 500 at a time.

I mix ketchup with sour cream as dressing and there is nothing better! My friends love pelmeni with vinegar.
