I don't think there is an answer. I think you find the girl wherever you find her.
What you want is a Good Girl and when you find her then you pursue her. Trying
to categorize a women being good, bad, better or worse based on Geography or
size of her community is a fools errand in my opinion.

When you are searching for gold you sift through lots of gravel. Just make sure
not to filter out any of the gold nuggets with dubious search criteria.

My wife lived in a city of a million souls. She left her career, friends, family, language
and culture to live with me in Dickinson North (Fracking) Dakota. Population 22,739.
Then she pulled up stakes and followed me to Cheyenne Wyoming, Glenwood Springs
Colorado and now we live in Austin Texas. I found solid gold (with trace elements of
stubborn Russian girl).

A guy can find a Good Girl, even a Great Girl, but if she cannot fit into the environment in which the couple will live . . . the relationship will fail.

I am going to speak generically here. This isn't about your good girl or my
good girl, it's about good girls in general. Good girls are serious about joining
together with a man.

One of the first recorded good girls was a gal named Ruth. She said "Where you
go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people₁"

Part of due diligence is making sure that the good girl you find is willing to follow
you to the ends of the Earth and that she wants to be with YOU! A good girl
has either bought in and joined team ________ (your name here) or she has not.

Due diligence is the process of getting to know if a girl is all in or not. You want all
in, you only want all in. You don't want a toe dipper. Toe dippers get kicked to the
curb. 

Some day there will be struggles, difficulties, trials and tribulations. You absolutely
want your wife to be next to you helping you get through it rather than on the next
flight to Russia.

My original point is that the right girl can be by your side wherever you go and
your language, country, culture, etc. are going to be utterly foreign to her. Her
life is going to be totally different if she decides to go with you. Neither her city
living nor her village living are predictive to success of her life with you.

OK, so just state the combined criteria as:  "What you want is a gal categorized as (1) a 'Good Girl' AND (2) who is also willing to put up with you anywhere."

I contend that each are independent variables.  i.e. Not all 'Good Girls' will put up with you anywhere; yet they can still be super qualified as 'Good Girls.'

The purpose for reviving this thread is so that newbies can see ideas
and thoughts of setting search parameters in the past based on city
size and the arguments for and against doing that. 

You contribution is valuable as well.

Although there will be exceptions . . . as a general rule:

If you are going to live in a big city, focus on gals who already live in big cities or grew up in big cities.

If you are going to live in a small town, focus on gals who already live in small towns or grew up in small towns.

A ton of adaptations are necessary and unavoidable when relocating which will cause distress.

It's nearly impossible to do that. The women who grew up in Podunk village
but moved to Kharkov to go to college list themselves as Kharkov not Podunk.
How do you do a Visit many? The women would be scattered across the map.

Interestingly (or not), wife actually had a higher standard of living growing up in Ukraine than I did growing up here in USA.

Not that her standard was high . . . mine was EXTREMELY low. 
Dirt poor; father had 3rd grade education, mother 8th grade.
