Following up previous post -- and yes it is a link !
Links provide a fuller explanation and wider details-i see little point in writing detail that can easily be read as a more complete examination.
It does not need me to repeat conclusions that are obvious enough.

Russian-hybrid attack on civilians in Krasnohorivka is a form of psychological warfare

There was no military purpose for the artillery attack on 28 May. The artillery of the Russian-hybrid forces didn’t support or repel an attack, they didn’t hit any military objects in the town, it wasn’t a random mishit because the attack on Krasnohorivka civilian infrastructure lasted more than two hours, various types of weapons were involved. Civilian objects at least one kilometer away from the nearest Ukrainian positions were shelled.

Whilst I totally accept the Kremlin 'troll armies' part in firing up polarisation and mistrust of Kyiv you forget I also GO to the place you mention - in both UA and RU - and witness feelings on both sides of the new divide.

Whilst Crimea certainly enjoyed her status as an autonomous republic 'under' Ukraine and there have been LOADS of own goals by the new 'powers that be' - you are SERIOUSLY misreading the situation..

SURE, there are those that don't WANT to be Russified  - and they suffer crap - but this is the minority ... generations of planted Russification worked wonders.

For those clueless russophiles.

Hard information ( again) that refutes Kremlin promoted nonsense.

Russian-speakers having problems with Ukrainian language more myth than reality, poll reveals

Russian politicians and pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine love the myth that the Ukrainian language is a big problem for people living in southeastern Ukraine. After the country turned westward following the Euromaidan revolution, Russian President Vladimir Putin considered the protection of Russian speakers an adequate reason for invading Ukraine, leading some Ukrainians to urge to switch to Ukrainian as protection for Russian aggression. Even now, pro-Russian forces continue to exploit this myth, which sometimes spills out to western media. A new report by the Institute of Mass Information suggests that the language question is not as important to the population of southeastern Ukraine as politicians would like to believe.

Re Moby comments -- I have posted in the past that I am very close to a source whose work involves the collection and analysis of data, and I was privy to a substantial amount of material prior to it becoming public.I was involved in many discussions on interpreting that material.
I mention this because over a period of time it confirmed my own anecdotal information -- and also gave me a heads up on what questions would get to peoples thoughts .

JayH

If this 'source'  is anything like as reliable as some of the 'news' you have posted here - that does anything but help the cause of Ukraine - gawd help Ukraine...:(

Of course not everyone believed the nonsense -- far more people fled west rather than east into Russia.

Sources to back up this assertion, please ?

Many who felt they had no choice but to stay are hardly in a position to indicate they are not happy with the occupiers .

Indeed - and yet if we analyse the issues folks have with deeds and changing of car licence plate and non-swapping of passports - we can see they are indicating their wish that UA documentation be respected - as promised.

That comment applies to the Crimea too -- these Russian occupied areas are not places people can speak freely --certainly not if they want to stay alive !

Yet you manage to  post articles from unhappy folk from Crimea...  What we forget is that - generally - most folks were happy to be 'Russian again' . Sadly, the minority viewpoint isn't going to be listened to.

Where would people be able to clamour? I have posted results of polls taken that certainly show a majority want to be governed by Kyiv. But-- as I said --having or expressing such a sentiment publicly is very unwise .
While you are poking at me over links-- where exactly would you ever see such sentiments expressed? No answer required.

You're getting one... I simply do not believe you re Crimea - even though before the Kremlin 'fear campaign started' most were happier to stay an autonomous republic.

Re Donbas ... most folks I talk to just wanted peace and to be able to go about their lives.  A sense of loyalty to Moscow/ Kyiv is secondary.

I see little chance of Moscow withdrawing 'support' and VVP's comment about the 'territory we call Ukraine' suggests he believes it hasn't lost enough territory, yet :(

Pretty clear what  Ukrainian soccer fans think !!
Even when playing away from Ukraine other countries of the fsu sing this to show their support for Ukraine's battle for freedom.

Ukraine - Turkey. Fans at the stadium in Kharkov sang "Putin - x * ylo!"

- video 03.09.2017 admin Fans in Kharkov during the qualifying match of the World Cup-2018 between the national teams of Ukraine and Turkey performed "Putin - x * ylo!". In the first half of the fight at the stadium "Metalist" fans repeatedly shouted a famous hit about the Russian president.

Note that before the match the whole arena  fantastically performed the anthem of Ukraine.

Video of the stadium singing anthem as one !

Such moments unite the country more than all the politicians together. See what happened yesterday in Kharkiv.

HIMN OF UKRAINE !!! ALL STADIUM POET !!! KHARKOV IS THE BEST !!! This is where the will of the people! It is impossible to force the whole stadium to sing the hymn and keep the flags !!!

They're not singing the anthem.  Quite the contrary, in fact.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten
