Starting over again

NOTE: I am very happily married and not starting over.

I was unsuccessful several times and I had to start over again and again.
Nearly everyone fails the first time that they travel to meet a woman from
the FSU. Most of the married men on this forum struck out the first time.

Most guys make a trip, make a few mistakes, things don't work out and
they give up, never travel to the FSU again.

I started this thread is because we have so many experienced members
that failed on their first trip. Then they dusted themselves off and gave
it another try. Newbies pay attention.

Our experienced members can explain what they did wrong, what they
learned, and what they did to improve their situation the next time.

I will make note of some of the things that I did.

I am not bragging, although some will think I am.

That is to say . . . I never actually thought that I struck out, although I made several trips to FSU (after many previous business trips) just to meet with and spend time with many FSU gals.
Probably my reasoning on this (never struck out) is because I was not in dire need of a wife or even a serious long-term relationship.

But perhaps I did strike out because I didn't find the one I thought was perfect, but I never struck out in terms of wanting a particular gal and she not wanting me.

And in truth, I probably would still be looking, if my (now) wife hadn't taken the initiative to come here on her own (student visa), live with me, and demonstrate that we were highly compatible (most of the time.)

But back to Big Bill's question . . . what did I do wrong on my early and later trips (nothing), what did I learn from trips where I didn't find the one (nothing), and what did I do differently on subsequent trips (nothing.)

I should have gone with the slender 5'10" artist in Lviv - we'd have some lovely teenagers by now. But I had to meet an amazing Californian doctor.  Why did I have to be so charming??!

What did you learn? What did you start doing differently?

I started over plenty of times.

In the beginning I searched for FSUW on pay per view sites,
I pursued girls who were too young, I didn't know any Russian,
I pushed too many envelopes too often and it caused me to make
trips to the FSU and leave without finding the right girl.

So, I went back and reviewed everything. Who I contacted, why
and what I said. I also looked at who I selected to visit and why
I selected them over others. I selected hot women back then and
I never stopped doing that, but back then in the horse and buggy
days of the internet we were communicating mostly by exchanging
letters.

I didn't have a webcam back then or a messenger like Skype so I got
them.

I stopped contacting girls on pay per view. I asked better questions
and I was able to look in the girls eyes when she replied. I also started
dumping girls no matter how hot they were. No more hotties getting a
pass on anything.

I was always driving the bus, but now I was driving it down the right
road in the right direction.
