Older Newbie
« on: February 26, 2021, 12:57:29 AM »
I've meet a few women on RussianCupid. I stick to verified members. I'm a retired CPA executive and former CFO in America.  I have a lifetime retirement already established.  I have visited Moscow,  Volgergrad,  and other Russian cities in the early to mid 2000s for business.  I found the culture intriguing, the women more so.  I have been corresponding to women in both Russia and the Ukraine.   Even with my profile, indicating my age, current pictures etc. More younger women have solicited me for conversations.  Is that normal?  My most important question is regarding the war zone. Specifically the cost to have a women meet in Kiev or Odessa. I've been told anywhere between $300 and $500 USD for permits, travel cost, covid testing.  Anyone have experience with this. I'm planning a 2 month trip to both Russia and the Ukraine this summer.  TIA.  Chase

If you are well off and offer an escape from he war zone, young women will be interested. If they are interested in you or in the opportunity you offer, that is for you to decide. However, it might be better to drop dreams and find your own criteria for what you hope to be  partner for the rest of your life.
If you start by paying women to meet you somewhere, be prepared that not all will arrive, and those who do will probably be interested in how much more your wallet can stretch. I do not have issues with giving them some present when you meet for their trouble, but paying their trip before meeting is not something that should be usual.Make your trip flexible. You might want to be able to spend more time with the right prospect instead of running around taking job interviews.Use your bigger brain, and most of all enjoy the experience, regardless if you find the right on the first trip or not.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Welcome to the site 🙂

In my recent experience on many free and monthly subscription sites, 99% of young women (or women of any age) who make unsolicited contact are scammers and 100% of women who claim to be from the war zone are scammers too. Some possibly Nigerians according to scam bait forums.

This is how I shut down a war zone scammer recently.....

Yana: (Donetsk Region)
Hi 🙂

Davo:
Hi Yana, how are you ?

It’s a weird coincidence, but I was just video chatting with a male friend from Doneskt. We met in Ukraine years ago and have bexome good friends. We chat once or twice a week on whatsapp.

Anyway that’s enough about that. if you’re happy to chat with me, please tell me about yourself and your life.

Regards
Davo

Yana:
Hi, how are you doing? I really liked you and I would like to continue communicating with you)))
Maybe you can say your mail and I'll write you a little letter and tell you about myself.
Kiss you!!

Davo:
Hi, give me your whatsapp details so
we can video chat and call.... email is old school.

The good news is there are 1000’s of wonderful age appropriate women on those sites, late 30’s+. Many are very attractive, well educated, have good careers, financially comfortable and have excellent English skills. You just need to be “the man” and make the first move, but still do your basic scam checks.... especially her willingness to share personal contact details (other than email) and see a strong motivation to call and video chat regularly with you.

What dating site are you using?

Avoid any involvement with women in the conflict zone (in Ukraine). Just don't even bother. Even if the woman is genuine there is so much baggage you'd be dragging with you. Go fish in a different pond.

The age difference depends a lot on your age and other variables.

You may not be able to enter Russia, they are not rushing to open their borders: http://www.kayak.com/travel-restrictions#russia

Paying a woman to meet you? You're better off hiring a local hooker - she'll meet you and leave you, and you don't spend two months abroad (in other words, only a fool would pay a woman).

I am pretty sure by summer restrictions will be lifted if not sooner. According to officials, they think by late spring/early summer.

No, it's not normal unless you are on a pay by the letter or pay to chat site?
Then it's normal that the translators will send you fake letters for a commission.
99.99% of the warzone area women are fake or scammers.

I have been out of the hunt for too long to suggest which sites you should use
but there are those here that can make recommendations to you.

What's your theory of visiting both countries on one trip?

WARNING FOR ALL NEWBIES GOOD STUFF FOR ALL TO READ BELOW

Looks like you've managed to cross paths with a few scammers, luckily you've
found your way here and we can get you headed down a better path.

My first piece of advice is to do a ton of research, read until your eyes bleed.
Here are some good places to start.

1. Read the Ten Commandments
http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=1740.0

2. Read the thread Pursuing FSUW 101
http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=14615.0

3. Read the Free EBook
http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=47

4. Read all the trip reports you can. You can find mine here
http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=3432.0

Second piece of advice
As you read you will have questions, you can either use the search function or
you can come back here to this thread and ask them. When you ask questions
you will get a lot of free advice. Some of this advice will be excellent, some will
be good and some will be more dubious.

Your job is to NOT GET OFFENDED and sift through the advice using what would
be helpful for you, your goals, your personality and your situation and then ignore
the rest.

Udachi! (that means good luck in Russian)

You are a retired CFO and using the terminology 'the Ukraine?'

Why not be consistent and refer to 'the Russia?'

A COVID test for Ukrainian citizens is about USD$10, results in 2 days or so.

There is now a train running from within the conflict zone to Kyiv, cost is USD$10 - USD$43.  Cost of a bus/taxi to the train station would depend on where she is coming from.

Cost of hotels in Kyiv vary - one can find decent hotels for Ukrainians, starting at USD$10 a night, up to hundreds of dollars.

I can't speak to the cost of a permit, but I suspect it would be less than USD$20.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Being born in The Hague I can tell you here is no analogy there. The Hague is short for "The Count's Hague" as the village was formed around the estate of the count Floris IV. The Dutch government is using the old estate, making it one of he few countries where the government is not in the capital.

Thank you, it's great to finally know the etymology and the story behind
the word.

In Southern California people call their highways "The 10" or "The 5"
but nobody outside of Southern California does this. Home Desperate
calls themselves "The Home Depot" in their advertising.

Grammar lesson:

'The' is used in front of name of a nation in 3 cases.

1) Plural names.  the Philippines, the Netherlands, the United States

2) Adjectival or compound forms:  the United Kingdom,  the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States.

3) When it is actually part of the official name: The Gambia.

Those who say 'the Ukraine' are just being lazy by thinking that since we say the United States and the United Kingdom . . . any name starting with U must have 'the' in front.

Conveniently ignoring Uruguay, Uganda, Uzbekistan.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

It's not normal. It's not even normal for old ugly fat girls to initiate contact. On a rare occasion, girls can write a man first. Most likely, Boris, the employee of the month is writing you. Dating sites in America even have employees write male members to keep them hooked which leads them to spend more money. When you are communicating with real women, best to get their contact info quickly. Communicate with then directly so you can keep the agency from interfering.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

During the Soviet period in Ukraine, the nation was known as The Ukraine. After the breakup of the Soviet empire the Rada, Ukraine Parliament, voted to remove the article The from Ukraine.

But the reasoning as I understand of having the there is because of the 'translation' of Ukraine meaning, The Borderlands, much like The Badlands or The Outback.

I don't think this is true regarding any vote by Rada.  Because in Ukrainian language, there is not an article.

Usage of 'the' before Ukraine was only an incorrect English language artifact.

But let's let Boe give the correct story.

That would be the western explanation since it was known as The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. There is no definite article in Russian or Ukrainian languages. Lebanon also experienced the same extrication when it declared its independence, The Lebanon.

Remember the song ‘The Lebanon’ by Human League; .. And who will have won
When the soldiers have gone? From the Lebanon. The Lebanon...

Borderland have no plurality. Borderland. The better translation would be ‘ the frontier regions’ i.e. The Midwest. The Bahamas - shallow water; The Congos - kongo nkongo ( the hunters).

Germans are more prone to use the article today when referring to Ukraine.
