In the US, every week,  on average, 14 babies are borne to women 50 years or older. And with all the testing available to determine birth defects, you do not have to rush. One year earlier or later won't make much difference.

At what cost?  And, it is only a tiny percentage of people who can afford it, and of those, only a tiny percentage for whom such methods actually work.

It is better to start sooner rather than later, in almost all cases.

I felt sick just reading this, take what people said into consideration, and listen to them.

Relatively few individuals will ever achieve the fluency in Russian to speak it on a daily basis, unless they are living in a Russian speaking country.

Why do you think not learning Russian was a mistake?

Hearing nothing but Russian being spoken in my house and to my kids and not knowing what was being said helped take it's toll. Not ever being able to talk to her parents. I'm just saying I could've spent time learning the language. Would it have been a difference maker who knows.

That's an amazing statistic, which I'm quite that nobody on here would have expected.   And I see that in the UK they average three births a week in that age group, so roughly the same proportion of the population.

So there is no 'safe' age anymore.

Hmm.  I ran this by the better half.  He said you should be happy, your relationship would have been ruined more quickly if you understood what they actually said.

After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Thanks for your concern, I guess?

LOL, maybe he's right. I just know that my late friend whom I met in Kiev on my first visit in July 2001 spoke a little Russian. The women he would meet loved it. His attempt was always good for a laugh. I know my ex always thought it was funny when I tried speaking it. Now my kids think it's funny.

Yes, I also was surprised by the statistics when I heard it on the news. They also added that although older women carry higher risk of giving birth to a sick baby, in reality, it is the younger women who deliver sick babies more often because they tend not to invest in the extensive testing as the older women do.
If you don't understand something, why the other person is the idiot?
