Sorry for the confusion, I think my fingers got ahead of my brain as I was typing. it would make more sense to separate the diversitiy visas, with a limit being set at 5000 from each country. Then write there is no limit to k1,(fiance' visa) 2 children under 18, or 3 (spouse visa) K4 unmarried child of wife that is now a citizen after 3 years.  I think thats how it goes. In any case always refer to the USCIS web site as the rules are ever changing. For example lawsuites were filed and won,  we dont have to be  as concerned with FBI name checks like before, holding up the approval time. FBI backround and finger print checks are the same. This may not speed things up but it won't slow them down like before.

No prob Mike.  I see you live in the San Diego area.  When you get Galina here, let's get together. I see you're into the guitar business. I'm into guitars too as you can see from my avatar.  Even though the the three Fenders you see in this photo cost an average of $300 at the time, (1964)  Their value today would be off the charts.  If I had kept every guitar, amp and car I owned in the sixties, I could retire off the sales proceeds today.  Here's what could have sold today...

Guitars..
64 Fender Jazzmaster
65 Gretsch Tennessean
65 Rickenbacker 12 string
66 Gibson (can't remember the model)

Amps...
Vox Super Beatle Amp
Fender Twin Reverb Amp
Fender Showman

Cars..
55 Chevy HT
56 Chevy BelAir HT
59 Impala
60 Austin Healy Sprite (Bugeye)
64 Alfa Romeo Spider
68 Alfa Romeo GTV

Well, as I add these up, it still would not be up to retirement account value, but a pretty decent overall return anyway.

Mark,
As an American with Irish heritage, I regret the misguided Private support by some of my Catholic countrymen given to the IRA.  That was indeed disgraceful.  I hope those who did so regret their misguided zeal.

Just found this post, Ronnie .. thanks from an Ulster Proddie - who married a "good ( half -Oirish) Catholic Girl" - well I did TRY to cross the "divide" ...!

I know this thread has been dormant for a while, does everyone
still believe that there is no chance that some day in the future
that RW will not be allowed to exit Russia?

The question is more how high the hurdles will be to allow them to enter in to their prospected country.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

I know most people think it's impossible that Russia would ever implement exit visas on their people again, but let us not forget that it was just a month or two ago that one of those head case Russian politicians (can't remember his name or if he was in Duma or what) publicly stated that perhaps it was time re-implement Soviet style exit visas again to "protect" Russians from Western influences.  Of course it sounds crazy, and I doubt there are very many people even in the Kremlin inner circles who would support such discussions.  But not that long ago many of us also thought it would be crazy to think that Russia would ban U.S. adoptions or throw gay people in prison or interfere in any way in Ukraine...the list goes on.  I remember that when the adoption ban was first proposed, Putin himself denounced it and said he didn't support it.  But when the Duma passed it he licked his finger and held it out in the wind and decided he'd sign it.

The anti-western hysteria is such that if an exit visa were seriously proposed, I wouldn't bet money against it passing.  As my wife said to me last night, "never underestimate what the Russian people can be convinced to support."
