Title: Exchange Rate - Currency Converter
Post by: Admin on November 27, 2008, 12:21:14 PM
For those who may be making a trip soon, here are some easy-to-use tools for currency conversion:

USDollar to UAHryvnia

USDollar to RURuble

EURo to UAHryvnia

EURo to RURuble

If you do not find the country of your interest listed, there are drop-down boxes in each of the conversion boxes that will enable you to select any major currency to be converted. For example, if you want to see the Great Britain Pound converted to Belarusian Ruble, you simply select those currencies from any of the boxes and it will provide the converted currency value.

I tried adding them to the RWDpedia, but its page treats JavaScript as if it were plain text (and the Editing Help is a blank page :(). Any idea on how to do that?

Wiki mark-up language has difficult with javascript. I also looked at adding it to the RWDPedia, and settled on posting a sticky here.

I got 7.9 currency in Kiev on Saturday on the street and 7.48 in bank machines. 7.9 store was desperate as they needed clean $100 usd bills not sure why.  They would not go 8.0 for me.  Tried hard but 7.9 was a good deal.

Everyone wants new clean 100 bills. Right now its the safest currency and will continue to be for a while. Look at the world currencies falling some 20- 25% against the USD over 30 days time and still there a month later.  Anyone living internationally will be hoarding USD and it will continue to drive the value up and the rate will rise. By In the next 6 months the Euro could be trading at .80 instead of the lowest on Oct 27th 1,24 was 1.60 in July.  Canadian, Australian, New Zealand dollars will be half value in the next few weeks, from what it was before the crisis. They are close to that now, .53 NZD. Aud.60 Can dollar was near equal, now .80etc. The British pound hasnt been 1.47  that I can ever remember.  de ja vu.

I see the USD is now at 8.3...They say they are expecting 13-15 HRV to 1USD...If this happens I feel sorry for the Ukrainian people but it will be much cheaper for us to travel. What are the thoughts of some of the experts here on this?

May not be cheaper to travel as airlines / apartments will switch to Euros or usd - most do now.  Food will be cheaper.  USD is getting weak again as USA has been buying a bunch of foreign goods again.  If Ukraine goes to 13 to 1, than the entire country will revolt.  Japanese Yen continues to be the strongest currency past 4 months.
