. She needed to feel comfortable and that she belonged. My wife who had passed away - all her things had been removed to other family members.

Hey Chicagoguy,

My former wife has also passed away.  I'm curious, did you save ANYTHING, of hers, like pictures in a trunk in the garage?....I have, as I want our kids to have something...although I will admit, even doing this doesn't give the current wife delight, but sometimes things have to be done regardless....Of course what you have done to make your wife belong is very important, and the right thing to do as well...imo

I just happened to be browsing about the internet....

Fathertime - I saved many boxes and they are in storage. I am sure at some point my 3 daughters will go through it all. My Russian wife now does not mind her decorations and other small items that were left but did want a new bed for us. Of course I did this.

My daughters were reluctant to have her at first but now love her. As does my late wife's family. There are very many wonderful people involved with us. Almost unbelievable. I am a lucky man.

Hey everyone!

I am just curious-- when your wife finally arrived and (I assume!) you picked her up at the airport, what was the first thing you did together as a couple?

How was your first week together? What did you do?

(Note: Please exclude "sleeping")

Remember like it was yesterday! May 22, 2012 after we met at the airport, I would like to take her to the Hollywood hills. But she was too tired after the flight ... so we went first to my home. as it turned out later, she was not tired ...)) it was our first and unique sex. And even though we had met on a dating site https: //mymagicbrides.com after 2 years we were married. Still can not believe that I found my wife on a dating site!

After leaving the airport I took her straight to Cracker Barrel and ordered her an Uncle Herschel. There was no time like the present to get her started on grits.

What? No Cracker Barrel in that little island nation of yours?  ;D

It's a restaurant with a old time country style menu. Grits is ground corn and a staple in the Southern U.S. cooked mainly sort of in the way of oatmeal. Grits aren't widely known outside of the South

Ochka likes Cracker Barrel also.

She has taken to various types of USA food very well.

Italian is still the favorite for the both of us.

I love Uncle Herschel's breakfast.  For those of you who have never been to Cracker Barrel, here it is described on their website:

Quote
Two Eggs cooked to order with Grits, Sawmill Gravy and Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits along with Real Butter and the best Preserves, Jam n' Apple Butter available. Served with Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole and your choice of Hickory Smoked Country Ham, Grilled Pork Chop, Sugar Cured Ham or Fried Chicken Tenderloin.

Know it well.  When I was a young lad, my "folks" in Tennessee would cure hams, hanging them in a small smokehouse for months.

I bought some for my RW wife when she arrived, so we could live "high off the hawg."  She finds it in the fridge while I am away, tries it and throws it out as "spoiled."  I explained it is akin to prosciutto, and I explained its high cost.    She did not buy my comparison, asking if I tried to poison her.   :o :D

Unlike prosciutto, American country ham seems to have more salt (hence, we usually wash it before cooking), is not as moist, and would have a distinctive wood flavor if smoked.  I would have thought Russia has something similar yet I have not seen it in the markets.  Maybe in Ukraine?

When I was living in Ukraine for a summer, I tried the smoked chicken.  It was too much for me to stomach.  I had to throw it out.  The smoke taste permeated the meat and gave it both a rich and smoky taste.  I suppose it would have been good on crackers or a small slice on a piece of bread - maybe with mayonnaise.  But after trying it without anything to take the edge off it, I will pass on future offerings.

Actually, I could not stomach the thought of it.  Then while drinking with a UA family I decided to try it with the Vodka.  Not too bad.  Much better than the visual impression.   Had the same response years ago with oysters on the half-shell as well as sushi.     :)  Now like them all.

I like oysters.  I tie a string around them.  That way, when I eat 'em, I can pull on the string, pull them back out and eat 'em twice.

We brought my wife's 2 cats from Ukraine to New York.   This was not easy.  My mistake when I booked the tickets with a Russian speaking agent was simply saying 'We have 2 cats'.   When we went to board the plane, they said 'why do you have 2 cat carrying boxes?"  And we said "because we have 2 cats".

They said "well, you are allowed to bring you're two cats but you are only allowed one cat box - so they both have to put put in one box"

This was impossible because they are both adult cats.  When I booked the tickets, I should have made it clear 1 cat in one box and 1 cat in another.  Since we are two people, allowed one pet each, I figured this was a no brainer.

We argued and tried to sort this out for nearly one hour with no luck.   (You know how it is).  Finally, 15 minutes before the flight took off I think the pilot came to our rescue and told all the agents allow two cat boxes or else.
1 minute later we were allowed entry to the plane.

Thank you mr. pilot where ever you are!

So, the first thing we did when we arrived was throw a party for the cats.   Getting the finace visa application approved was an easier process than getting them on the plane.
Sincerely,

My wife actually got to come on visitor visa before we were married.
Because of the length of the flight, it was home, show her the house,
sex and sleep. normal I would think for most part. Next day, relaxed at home, trip to
see the ocean, grocery store, basics.
Common sense, Is not so common!

Haha, I took my wife to the Cracker Barrel last night for her first time. You should have seen the look on the men wearing camo fatigues faces as she posed for a quick photo op in front of the hearth.

For those of us NOT from your part of the world - I've heard of them,
but what the hell are they?

If you've ever eaten cream of wheat, it's a porridge like cereal. Grits
gets it's name partially from the texture. It's very popular in the South,
it's a bit bland. If you add butter, and mix it with your eggs and bacon
it's not too bad. It's definitely not as good as some people make it out to
be.

Grits aren't so great. I prefer oatmeal or hash browns...
Biscuits and sausage gravy can be вкусная.
