"I've talked to people who say that they grow two crops of tomatoes each
year here."

it's normal for plants to yield fruit well into December, same as California
a lot more pests here to deal with however...

don't go to south padre during a holiday or you will get stuck in traffic!!!

She is attending College in Voronezh.
Could you please ask her if the imposing, Palladian-style Imperial Bank building is still there, maybe under a different name?

It is where my great-grandfather Leonid Pavlovic Alexeieff (Govenor of the bank's Voronezh branch) and his family resided from 1896 until he died in 1901 (http://www.floriani.it/leonida-eng.htm).

I saw a building in Voronezh University that looks EXACTLY like the picture you have
but sorry I don't know the name of the building, I was just passing by in front of it...
I do remember there was a sign outside this building that said something about "1920" but I didn't read it all
but the building looks EXACTLY like that!!!
maybe it's it, I'm not sure, but the image in my memory matches it...
that would be a cool place to live!!!!

Probably it was converted to Uni use...in1920 ;). Bill's daughter should be able to verify that, since she's attending college there.

We are moving to Texas, when we get settled I'll ask Angel Eyes about it.

Trippin in St Pete
« Reply #1256 on: October 14, 2019, 05:04:29 PM »
Three weeks ago, I flew to Denver and then took a shuttle to
Glenwood Springs Colorado. I rented a 26 foot Uhaul Truck
(8 meters) and filled it up with the beds and tables and various
household things we've acquired. Then I hooked up my 25 foot
(a little less than 8 meters) trailer to the back of that and drove
to Texas. There are Mountain passes that exceed 11000 ft
(3352 Meters) elevation and it's approximately 1100 miles
(1770 KM)

Then I unloaded everything into our new house and went back
to work on Monday. I couldn't lift my arms above my head, but
I rarely need to do that at work anyway.

I completed a half dozen honey do lists.

Angel Eyes is a very good wife and she knows if she puts
11 million things on one list that I'll never look at the list.
However, if she puts 15 things on a list, that I will hurry
up and grind them out. Then she will give me all sorts
of accolades as if I swam across an alligator filled moat,
slew the black knight and his dragon and rescued the
princess.

Then the next day she will come up with another list
and away I go slaying dragons and alligators.

It snowed huge in Colorado this weekend and it was
in the mid 80's here. (Today got over 90)

Angel Eyes got her permanent residency.

that's a long ride....
I think you like the weather better now...

if your kids are trick or treat age, it's a good way for you to meet the neighbors by accompanying them...
if you live in a rich neighborhood, older kids from outside will try and snatch your kid's candy, so ya gotta have someone "riding shotgun"
if that task falls to you then it's also a good way for you to meet the neighbors without looking like you're spying...

if you're ever thinking of taking your family to Central America, the only safe country is Costa Rica
only 3 1/2 hours flying time to San Juan, Costa Rica from Houston!!!!
tons of family stuff to do there, very inexpensive, safe for Americans with children...

Those of the sort of family things I love to read from Beel.

I am just trying to imagine trying to explain to a UK or any other nation I can think of this side of the pond why towing two trailers is 'OK' , 'coz it is done in America))).

I have a friend in Voronezh she is a very cute girl who Jumper and Larry
both know as a friend as well. (this is truly a small world) I will call her Sally.
She has excellent English, is funny, has a bubbly laugh and did I say she is
cute? Yes she has a photo in the dictionary under the word.

Again, I meet Sally for lunch and she gives me advice/pointers as well.

Does everybody remember Sally? She's the cute little
English teacher friend of mine, she also knows Larry
and AJ. She got married and moved to Arizona. She
hated all my previous girlfriends until I met Angel Eyes,
and then she loved her.

Angel Eyes has several little hobbies, one of which is
walking around and finding rocks. The big ones, I drag
back to put in the garden around flowers and such.

I bought her a rock tumbler and the little rocks she
picks up and polishes and makes into jewelry.

It's a nice little hobby and it costs kopecks per month
and keeps her busy and happy. Happy wife, happy
life.

There is a nearly famous rock show in Quartzsite AZ
that I mentioned ONCE to Angel Eyes and she has
since decided that I had promised to take her
there (I know I didn't).

Angel Eyes and Sally have been conspiring to have
a great time at this hole in wall rock show, which is
200 miles from civilization, 100 miles from water
and 10 feet from hell. (It get stupid hot in the summer).

I have been told we ARE going and fun will be had. I
remember going to it in the past and being bored to
death, but Angel Eyes is really looking forward to it,
so I am going to take her and give it my best effort
to have lots of fun.

We've been tilling the soil, planting flowers and vegetables and
Angel Eyes has been working us to death. Hopefully I will be
rewarded with fresh garden vegetables in a couple of months.

It was 84F today

84F?!? We're in the middle of a 2 week northerly storm.

Just saw the 'Rock' post above, how was that? I took wifey to Crystal Cave after Grand Canyon the last time we were there. If you have claustrophobia, I'd suggest not going.

That was actually boring for me. I would've rather hiked more trails in the Canyon.

I asked Angel Eyes and she said that there are two buildings that it could
be depending on what street it is on. If it's on 20 Letiya Oktyabrya then it's
the Architect Building Academa, where they teach architecture however when
the other thought was it's a pedagogy school but when we looked up those
buildings they are different than your building.

Do you have an address or a street maybe? She is very happy to help and had
several other suggestions but if you had a little more to go on it would help a
lot.

Of course 90% of Voronezh was destroyed in WW2 and your building could have
been one of those destroyed.

Sorry no, I do not have/know its address, I guess that at the end of the 1800's one was not needed to locate such an important and grand edifice, probably just saying "the Bank" was enough ;).
