Update married bliss and all that stuff

What??

Last I knew you were in Wyoming.

Did you officially announce the change here and get approval for the move ??

I stopped requesting approval for my moves once I stopped getting comp
rides on the forum jet. Now days as far as I know only Boe and Sandro
get jet rides for free. If anybody else gets free rides then I will be more
jealous than a school girl without a date to the prom.

I lived in Wyoming then got a Temporary job offer in Glenwood Springs
Colorado. It was for one year but stretched to 14 months. It was located
sorta between Vail and Aspen and was a great area for what I do.

They wanted me to stay on, but they didn't want to pay me so I moved
on. I signed up for another temporary job in Austin Texas and I am living
here in a rented room from a airbnb host until I find a place for the whole
family to live.

After being married and living in total bliss this totally sucks @ss.
It was 100F degrees (37.8) yesterday but it's only supposed to get
to 99F today humidity is at 51%.

Austin has a population of about a million people, it's known for it's
eclectic live music scene and it's the first place that qualifies as NOT
a tiny village to Angel Eyes. Man I miss that girl.

If any of our members lives in or near Austin, send me a PM.

I have spent some time in Austin as I had a relative who lived there at the time.

I liked it pretty well except for one thing that I couldn't take.

The wind . . . which pretty much blows all the time.
For anyone with allergies, wind is the killer.

cast off the back porch into the back yard
and troll the squirrels
we have a great time (wife and kids will bring me drinks and make sure I'm OK, cuz sometimes the squirrels get outta control and go into a peanut feeding frenzy)

Have someone show you where the "Dellionaire's" live.

If you apply for a building permit for a house with construction costs
exceeding 1 million dollars. (NOTE: you have to say it like Dr Evil from
Austin Powers) I will track you down. There were 4 this week and 3 the
week before. I meet the contractors, the architects and everyone involved,
rinse and repeat and before long I've got my finger on the pulse of the
high end construction in my area.

I live about a mile from a a Pentecostal church, that not only do the faithful prove their faith by handling live rattle snakes, but...
they also "speak in tongues"
half the guys there, wear cowboy hats, so I started wearing one to
I go a couple of time per year
I only had the guts to speak in tongues in front of others once, when I brought a friend there and wanted to blow his mind even more than it was...
I alter my appearance a little...
I wear black, horn-rimmed glasses
and I slick my hair back
and I squint at people...
I look pretty normal there, and nobody pays me any mind...
I just sits there
and I sings the gospel
with all my heart,

swing low...
sweet chariot...
coming for to carry me home...

so if you tune in to Texas
you will see that the reality
is FAR funnier than ANYTHING you'll find on TV or Movies
I dig it's weirdness
but can't wait to leave in a few more years like you
after my kids "have launched"

I lived in Austin in April-May, 1997 and it started to get hot in mid April. Fortunately my condo residence had a swimming pool, and often there was a pleasant breeze blowing :D, IINM down from Canada.

I have a book called Texas by James Michener written back in 1985
it talked all about Texas History from the mid 1500's till the 1980's.
They talked about the hot humid summers back in the olden days.

You were in Texas in April-May. It's always been hot in Texas in June
and more so in July and August. Having said all that we have a thread
about Global Warming.

The Earth has been getting warmer since the last ice age 11,000 years
ago, I didn't know that it's been disputed. What's been disputed is
whether man and his machines are making it happen faster or slower.
Most of the history of the planet the Earth has been without polar caps
at all. At one time there was a land bridge from South America all the
way to Antarctica that separated the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans making
the Earth MUCH warmer than it is now.

If anybody cares to debate Global Warming and it's causes, effects
and what to do about it can do so here.

BTW,
I know you have kids...

so listen up!
they have “ticks” in Austin, they are much smaller than the more common brown tick you may be more used to, I don’t know the name of this particular local genus, but google it so you and your wife know what it looks like,
you’ll find these more commonly in the “woods”
much smaller than what you’re used to, but the same shape and they ARE disease carrying!
I've scraped a few off my kids, and I repeat they are TINY in comparison to other tick species.

also, all of southern Texas, Louisiana, Florida has the “flesh eating bacteria”
google “flesh eating bacteria” Galveston
any kind of swamp water will have this in it
guess where kids like to play
do NOT let your kids play with open cuts in this environment

also, rattlers, and scorpions under rocks here, make sure your kids know not to put their hands under things

if your kids are going to public school, 100% teach them how to fight...
both my kids have decked bullies
the schools in Texas are “segregated” into 2 groups
“Advanced Placement” which is actually just the average kids
and the kids below that
the lower kids will be predominantly minorities
no attempt is made to educate them, but you can’t fail them either
so they’re just given a barely passing grade, but some can’t read or write
there’s no discipline in the schools some classes teachers will openly tolerate talking, using their phone
the difference between when you went to school and today's school, will totally blow your mind!
if you haven't already picked an area to live, then you know there's a lot of differences there
if I was going to live in Austin, I'd probably pick the University area...

new Texas menace for you to worry about!!!!
if you have snails in your back yard
then this year you may end up with parasitic disease carrying guinea flat worms
google it, I'm not joking
make sure your kids stay clear of these and the "kissing bugs"  google that as well
on july 4, i'm gonna fire off a machinegun in my backyard at the edge of a forest
neighbors will think it's fireworks....
it's a yearly tradition

I left Angel Eyes and Mini me on May 4th and headed to Texas and we've
been doing our thrice daily Skype calls, but I miss them too much so I
bought tickets for a trip back next weekend for a three day weekend.

I'll be spending the 4th of July weekend here in Austin. I've been
invited to a couple of bbq's and Willie Nelson apparently has a
4th of July picnic that's supposed to be fun.

Trippin in the Gulf
« Reply #1239 on: September 01, 2019, 12:05:41 PM »
Update

Angel Eyes had a birthday so she and Mini me came down
to see me in Austin. We went rental house hunting and spent
some time outside.

I was over 100F (38C) and the humidity was between 50 and
60% and we hadn't found a house that she liked for the price
she liked.

She is usually a trooper to whatever comes but she got a bit
wilty after being outside too much. I took her to the office and
she talked to the owner of the company I'm doing work for.
He asked her how she liked Texas.

She said "not too much, eet's too hot" I knew I had some work
to do.

So I took her to Lake Travis, and the River and drove around
the rolling hills filled with trees. The next day we went to Padre
Island and she got to frolic around in the Gulf's warm waters.

Since Colorado is a landlocked state with limited fish (pronounced
feesh) I took her to a restaurant and ordered a half dozen different
types of feesh for the center of the table and then we helped
ourselves to what we wanted.

I also ordered her a Ginger beer (non alcoholic) and she also
drank a regular beer.

We headed back to Austin and I asked her to take another look
at Zillow for a rental house. She found a couple that came out
that very day so we drove to two of them but the third one she
really liked. The homeowners were moving out and making
repairs so I knocked on the door.

They let us in and showed us around and Angel Eyes really liked
the house AND the rental price (rarely happens) so they sent
an email to their agent and I sent one to ours and we locked
it up. It's official, the 2talls are moving to Austin.

I took Angel Eyes out to a crab shack and we spent one last
night together before I put her and Mini me on a plane back
to Colorado. Angel Eyes was lucky on the trip back that
Mini Me reviewed all the safety features of the aircraft
in the event of an emergency.

Texas carrots ARE the biggest!!!
this was my oldest daughter's garden behind our house from the time when she was little like in the photo
carrots are on the right, all this was used to feed her pet rabbits
now she's a sophomore majoring in biochemistry at Rice University and moved into a loft on campus
so now there's no more rabbits or garden or even daughter.... sigh....
I'd be really sad and depressed about this...
but since my other daughter is away all day today
my wife and her friend Olga are sunbathing nude by the pool
and my wife just asked me to mix margaritas....
yes!!
Texas carrots ARE the biggest, just ask my wife or her friend Olga...
they'll tell ya'
they both REALLY LOVE big carrots!!!

Leaving Colorado for Texas, you have to be insane.  :cluebat:

Yeah, I thought so as well, but it's prettier here than you think
even in August/September and I wasn't getting paid my last
months in Colorado.

Gonna have a helluva time trying to keep that vegetable patch growing.   Of course, if you believe the Texans, their carrots are the biggest carrots in the world, their cabbages are the biggest cabbages in the world, etc. etc.

I've talked to people who say that they grow two crops of tomatoes each
year here. Angel Eyes took photos of every bush or tree with flowers and
she has been working the internet as well. She will figure it out.
