I am marc, 40, french and single. i am looking for a woman overseas and was wondering why all those foreign men were registering on russian dating sites or agencies. The reason why i am asking is, when i look at testimonials, forums, blogs, even my own little experience, it appears that most (good looking) ladies profiles are hiding scammers, gold diggers, pros, escorts and so on.
I am trying to be as honest as possible with my correspondance, but because of this real problem (fake profiles), it appears to be very very complicated if you don't backup everything, and close all doors behind you. Prob is when i get in touch with a "normal" lady, she may think i am crazy or rude, just because i asked how long she has been on the website...
For the old timers, do you really think it is possible, nowadays, to get married with a genuine and serious woman from the FSU?
My guess is that too many foreigners are travelling to the FSU just for sex tourism, and it makes this industry growing, so you think you register on a dating agency who claims you will find the woman of your life, but in fact it's just a gallery for one shot professional escorts.

Welcome to the forum,

it appears that most (good looking) ladies profiles are hiding scammers, gold diggers, pros, escorts and so on.

You are looking in the wrong place if you find a lot of scammers. Never use a pay by the
letter agency or a pay to chat agency and soon after contacting a woman get her on the
phone and skype and you will eliminate 97% of the scams. Scamming is a numbers game
and Scammers don't have the time to spend time on the phone and especially on Skype.

Don't be crazy or rude and you will do just fine. From France you can make a trip as a
3 day weekend, fairly frequently compared to those of us from the States/Canada or
Australia/NZ.

I think if you are reasonable regarding your age and beauty standards that you would
have an excellent chance to find a serious, interesting and sincere woman from the FSU.

You do have to be careful on what websites you visit. Many of them are for scammers, pros and escorts. Luckily, not all of them are and even those that are legitimate often are infiltrated with unscrupulous elements that reflect badly on the website.

Don't offer too much information too quickly. Keep your profile relatively basic but not completely basic. Further, do not offer all of your information in the first few emails either. Let them ask questions and answer them as they are asked. Also, ask questions yourself and expect answers. This will help you discern which are sincere women and which are working you in a boiler type scam operation.

For a genuine man yes. Don't assume all of the women are scammers or pro daters. They are not but any of them would get offended if they thought you were accusing them of such. The honest women because they do not want to be associated with the dishonest ones and the dishonest because you're accusing them of not being good at their scam.

You would be wrong.There is plenty of all sorts traveling to the FSU for a variety of reasons. My guess is, you are visiting the wrong websites which is easy to do and get misled. If I were a gambling man I would wager you've already spent a small fortune on these sites?

Thanks for your advices, you are right it is important to keep sensitive informations until you are sure about the person you are facing, this is what i am trying to do, and it's not that easy. Look, let's say i work for some govt, and the woman i will get married with need a blank CR, how will i tell her my occupation knowing that i cannot tell everything because of my position, and get the info about her records, without looking like some kind of scam?!? Quite complicated to explain i must say.
Fyi, i never paid any ppl, i have only been using said serious website, and i did not spend a fortune so far.
i am not a serial dater, so i am not into many correspondances, the few i've contacted where already pre-selected, and guess what.... a girl i had a chat with, as soon as she saw i was really serious to find a wife, this after let's say 2 minutes when she asked me why i was on the website, she told me  "be careful, there are a lot of scamers here..." (if not only, regarding her stressful expression), then she ended the call saying she had something to cook (i think there was someone behind), and sent a funny sentence back like "sorry, you are not the type of man i am looking for". i think i did not even had the time to tell her my name!
i am not saying all men travelling to FSU are doing it for sex, i just point the fact that because of the increase of men doing such tourism, it helps the industry to settle, and fill the real market with junk. I went there, i saw such behaviors, and i did not like it.
this is a pity because fsu woman are amazing, high school level, good tastes, beauty etc, and it doesnt deserve the real women, nor the foreign men who are really interested to find their bride over there.
i think the pb comes from the way it was introduced in fsu. when the dating market emerged and spreaded worldwide in fsu, it was "pay for a bride" ads (around year 2000 if i remember), which drawn many sugar dadies over there, luring and taking advantage of the young ladies, and some guys who were thinking that they could just pay for a life, much like the remote past slavery. So this made the whole dating market weird, but this is just my thought, of course.

I can't will agree with you. In Russia deceive where it is possible to deceive. Especially there is a lot of deception on dating sites. From Europe 8 men from 10 write me lie. I don't think all men on the sites not honest. I define them the IP computer. I understand who writes me the truth, and who the scammer from Nigeria. You can protect yourself from lie.

i understand i should not fear using online services as longbas i am aware, but it will be a lot of deception, simply because of spoilers who are in between.
maybe the best solution, is simply to travel, hang around, and see what life has to offer, finally.
i am not sure i will have enough time to chat 8 or 9 fake profiles on 10, just to learn if the remaining genuine lady, with all the stress she is also facing, is really interested with me. I do not mean that i am not involved in my search, but this is fact, much like any serious western men, i am an active person, and my job takes a lot of my time, so i cannot just "dream" about a woman, i need to make it real, and i cannot run away from this reality.

Being single on a website for a long time isn't something that anybody would be proud of. You may label them a loser or a pro dater if they give you an answer. The question really isn't that important and experience is teaching you sincere women don't like that question.

Yes. If you're running into too many fake profiles or scammers, you're looking for love in the wrong place. In the beginners section there is a sticky thread that lists recommended sites to use.

Overchasing the scammers is a common period for the "old" newbies who have few months of exercice.
It's difficult to find the right balance.
