Putin's "Self-Purification" vs Hitler's Night of Long Knives
« on: March 17, 2022, 10:04:34 AM »
I've not yet tried to draw specific detailed parallels, but did anyone else think of Hitler's Night of Long Knives when they read Putin's recent announcement of "Self-Purification" and the arrest of FSB and military generals?

Over the past 20 years there has been a 500 billion USD capital outflow from Russia to the West
Putin is trying to claw back as much as he can (except for his own, of course)
he wants half this money to come back to Russia and swapped for rubles…

do it, or ELSE!!!

smart Russians took their bitcoin and left Russia, and did it before people were being questioned by agents at the airport and restricted to 5,000 USD…

so now there’s a BUNCH of Russian ex-pats sitting around various places, waiting…
I have a few of them to babysit now…
oh joy…!!!

No but the narrative is always giving the ongoing menu that will be applied (and vice et versa), so as Krim says the richs
are "invited" to pay part of the bill.

More like a Stalinist purge.  I have zero sympathy for the oligarchs.

The better half always said there should have been Nuremberg like trials for communist party members.  They should not have been allowed to hold government positions for two decades.  But as they did, he said he was happy that their true greedy, porcine natures were exposed.

I watched a clip from interviews on a Russian street about the war.  There was a divide - older people supported Putin, called Ukrainians "banderivtsi", and said the war was necessary.  Younger people either were opposed or said they wouldn't answer, as it was "dangerous".  Only one babushka, over 80, denounced it, denounced Putin, said it was all BS, and Putin could go to hell.  I figured, she was old and therefore, had no fear for her future.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten
