Darth Confidential
« on: August 07, 2015, 02:20:02 PM »
Main reason I post this is because,,, Guys should know how AD works....
The girls can give you their personal info if they want...

Also words are censored... Like " Facebook "  only in English...
Just use Russian...  It fucks up their whole system...

Ukrainian girls mostly just like american girls...
If they really like you, They will jump through a few hoops for you...
So don't be a fool and talk to girls who won't talk to you on their own...
Skype and social media every day....

If she is not talking to you Evey night about her problems and joys in life.....
Those pretty girls are no doubt talking to other men..

I found Viktoria on Anastasia date,,,

Before I talked to her on AD, I found her profile on VK...

We talked on both Vk and AD for a month...

We have been using Skype and Vk for the last 3+ months...  Fuck AD.... Once I explained the price of the site she was shocked... She quit the site.

We are in the process of getting a English teacher to improve her knowledge of English and English medical lingo... " we talk on skype in Russian and English.
I found the teacher on a Actual Language learning website for Language teachers...
I will be paying the teacher directly...

I am planing to visit her in September for two weeks...
To iron out the last few issues in person.

To be continued...

That place is a rip off and good women who are into you will make it easy to communicate with them outside that site. There are filters that prevent people from exchanging personal contact info but if one talks in code, it can be done. It's best guys avoid the site altogether. The best chance to success is avoiding sites like AD.

Darth,

I know you're an intelligent guy, but I say things here that are said over and over again.  Until you meet in person, there is no relationship.  Just infatuation.  No one ever wants to hear that, especially when they have a budding romance.  But it is true.

As for ADate, the true numbers are that only about 20% of the women are really looking.  The rest are there for a paycheck, if at all.  Many of the profiles are run by men and you are saying your sweet love things to Hairy Boris.

Can I ask you a couple of questions that I already know the answers to?

1.  Is your Viktoria's profile quite recent?  When you met her had she been there for less than two months?

2.  How did you know to look in VK for her contact information before you spoke to her on ADate?  Did she use the same pictures that were taken of her by a professional photographer for ADate and put them on VK?

3.  When she left ADate, did the agency tell her that they could not remove the profile for a period of time?

These are all things our readership should hear.

100% correct... Even than... Love would be a very strong word to use....

1) Yes,, she was on their for 3-4 months, Before we talked.,,
2) Name birthdate search on VK. No she used her own pictures on VK... The photos on AD are all photo shopped... For every girl...
Her vk is more private now. I am the only person with a western name.. and her friend list is around 300.... My facebook has over 1000 friends.... I should start to talk to her brother.. but I was unsure how to break the ice...
3)I will ask her...

Do not assume you are being scammed,, but remember it can happen...
She is doing a very shity job at scamming me if she is....
If I was scammer...  I would try to convince me to send her money so she could pay for the " English Teacher "
Who knows maybe I will get beat up and robed by a bunch of Neo-Nazis in Kiev...

That's why I am planing all my own travel arrangements...

She will meet me at the airport and than join me on my vacation...
That is the plan...

Could It all be fake sure...
But if it is fake...
1) she is doing a bad job..
2) she Evil for talking to my daughter and mom on skype...

But hey roll the dice... Nothing is gained with out taking a risk...
Just don't bet the farm...

She's not ready to have you meet her friends and family yet?

Although you two talked on Skype, ask for her phone number and call often.  You're willing to take her on a vacation. She should be open to talking to you on the phone often. Skype sessions are many times planned. If she's open to talk to you anytime you call, then most likely she is not dating other men and you are her favorite.

She is doing a very shity job at scamming me if she is....

Not all scammers ask for money. Some scammers want vacations and/or shopping trips. There have been times men have been used for a vacation and when the woman can't get anymore vacations out of him, she puts her profile back up to find the next sucker.

Just giving you a hint. Not accusing your gal of being a scammer. I always believed if a woman really likes you, she'd be happy to see you anywhere. A romantic trip to Paris is not necessary on a first date. Save those kind of vacations for the wife.

I have her phone number...

The Vacation is on the outskirts of Kiev....
We might go to her home town on the second week...

We will see how the political situation is in that area...  At that time.. .

I should add...
Their is a Skype app for phones...
So you don't have to deal with long distance phone calls when your girl is not at her computer...
It's like a phone call but with video...

Darth--I am not a nay-sayer here on forums. It is possible to beat the odds and all the negatives.

I do not know your situation-- ie age( & her age),experience, history, your lifestyle  etc so take this as written.

I am always bothered when guys of limited exposure start handing out advice wider than their own exposure-- certainly a lot can be learnt by what others write--but!!
.,,
"2) Name birthdate search on VK. No she used her own pictures on VK... The photos on AD are all photo shopped... For every girl..."
All the photos on AD are not photo shopped
"Her vk is more private now. I am the only person with a western name.. and her friend list is around 300."
You have this wrong--in fact- you are the only western name   YOU CAN SEE!!!It is possible to hide profiles from visibility
"... My facebook has over 1000 friends.... I should start to talk to her brother.. but I was unsure how to break the ice...
3)I will ask her... "

In my view--it is innappropriate to start contacting family or friends --until  invited unequivocally. A girls privacy needs to be respected at all times. She may not have told anyone else of her activities( presuming it is her of course)  Guys that think they can blunder into a girls world based on having paid his money to a website are making a huge real world mistake.

"Do not assume you are being scammed,, but remember it can happen...
She is doing a very shity job at scamming me if she is....
If I was scammer...  I would try to convince me to send her money so she could pay for the " English Teacher "
Who knows maybe I will get beat up and robed by a bunch of Neo-Nazis in Kiev..."

You show here you are naive in understanding any of this- eg-- it is easily possible she gets a kick back at the very least out of this-to point out the obvious.

"That's why I am planing all my own travel arrangements...

All potentially a positive-but-means nothing in real life.

When you meet her, if she's a good gal, enjoy the moment and court her well. If she raises red flags, don't ignore it and be prepared to walk away. Hope everything goes well for you and looking forward to your trip report.

Darth,

I believe that she wants to be with you.  I believe that she is not a scammer.  My questions were for those who come after you.

The person you talk to on Skype.  And the person that you will meet.  Are two different people.  It is just like every relationship .... only really long distance.

She will probably have smelly socks.  She probably will chew her fingernails.  Reality begins when you meet in person.

Поздравления on learning Russian.  That is no small feat.

From what I've gathered from the information you have presented, it sounds to me like you have a realistic attitude and are moving forward appropriately.  Meeting in person means everything.  It is best to be yourself around the lady, but a well-mannered version of yourself!  I'd say it is more respectful that way.

It shall be interesting to see how the trip goes.

I always take window seats so I am not bothered by a seat mate.  I also fly with Xanax, in the event that I get claustrophobic on the flight.  I posted about this two years ago but it is just as salient today.  When I hit 40 I started to get claustrophobic on planes.  Since then, the doctor tells me to get some drugs in my system an hour before the flight takes off.

1.  You will be dehydrated.  Do not drink alcohol as that only dehydrates you further.  Drink water instead.  At the end of the flight I always ask for a cup of coffee as it helps me adjust to the new time zone and resets my clock.

2.  Bring a pair of bedroom slippers or something similar.  Is great to be able to pop off your shoes on the flight.  (Hopefully you washed your socks so your feet to not emit deadly fumes.)

I note that Aeroflot is now giving travelers thin slippers on overseas flights.

Last minute Thoughts on Buying Plane tickets for the Un-Experienced traveler..

How to make my way around terminals...  " They got apps for that "

Things like that...

Any thoughts are helpful...

Here are just a few thoughts off the top of my head. I'm sure that if I thought for a few more minutes more suggestions would occur to me:

Make sure that you allow enough time to catch connecting flights. You will need a bit more time if you have to go through a security check at one of your connecting airports. If you leave extra time between flights you won't be frantically running through an airport trying to make a connecting flight.

It's a long series of flights from the US. I would prefer not to be jet-lagged when I land. I take a sleeping  pill when I'm boarding. With any luck I can sleep for most of the flight. The slight grogginess is nearly all gone by the time I arrive.

Jone made a good point above about the window seat. I had a long flight in which I sat in an aisle seat. The guy in the window seat near me was sick and kept asking me to get up so that he could go to the bathroom or pace in the aisle.

Even if you have a big suitcase that you will check I recommend having a small carry-on bag in which to pack 1) small valuable items that you don't want stolen (nice camera, laptop, etc.) , 2) some toiletries, and 3) at least one change of clothing. This is so you will have something to wear if your checked bag is lost or delayed. I especially recommend this if you are flying through Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris.

Some people bring small electronic devises on which they can watch movies on the flight. I've always taken a book or two on the plane, sometimes a good guidebook to my destination location.

This isn't airplane related but it is important. Let your bank know that you're going to the country you are going to and the dates you will be there. Doing this makes it much less likely that their security people will freeze your credit/debit cards because they think a foreign scammer might be charging on your card.

I take a Swiss Army knife in my checked bag. I find a use for it on nearly every trip. The scissors are the tool I use most often, followed by the corkscrew.

Some guys suggest bringing a small flashlight, like a mini-maglight. This is because the power goes out more there than it does here.

To carry the passport around during the day when you are there vs. keeping it in your apartment and carrying a photocopy is an oft-debated question.

There is a good thread containing all of this advice and more. I'll look to see if I can find it and if I do then I will link to it in this thread.

Unless you have someone meeting you at the airport and accompanying you for your entire trip I recommend getting a compact, fits-in-your-pocket Russian phrasebook/dictionary. The one I use is published by the Lonely Planet. I recommend it highly. It really comes in handy when you're talking to taxi drivers and getting directions.  If you have a bit of time learn the Cyrillic alphabet before your trip.

Edited to add a link to this thread, which contains a discussion of a number of these things:

Thanks,,,

I need to get tickets, But the price keeps dropping...

I think I will fly out of Montreal... The flights are shorter... 2hr drive 12 flight....

It is also closer than Albany, NY - 4hr drive + 16-18 plane.. = to long....

I was just gonna have my parents WU me money once I get in Ukraine... Waite can I even do that?
Or I might just use Bitcoins...  Transfer them to cash once in Kiev...  This I can do...

Good tip on Paris... and the extra clothes...

my choices of layovers seem to be France, Netherlands, Germany or Switzerland...  I would think the Germans would be the most English friendly...

Although I've never done it, I assume your parents can wire you money there in an emergency.

The Netherlands' Schipol airport is excellent. Frankfurt is also good. You wouldn't have any problem communicating in English at the airports.

Just a few points to ponder. IMHO, if there is any sizable lay over and it's unavoidable, choose Amsterdam.

Keep your travel time as short as possible. If it's Montreal, then it's Montreal.

Take your cash with you. The financial market is in turmoil in Ukraine currently. Don't risk being broke. Take large denominations, crisp, clean and new as possible or the bank or money exchange will deduct for inked, torn or old bills. Be mindful and cautious of your money. Keep some small denominations to make purchases with and never flash a wad of cash in the eyes of others.

There is a chance of about 30% you'll have some sort of luggage issues. The extra carry on you were advised is a must. Extra clothes, snacks and a place to keep some of that cash you're carrying as keeping it all in the same place is not a good idea (just in case).

edit to add: I always opt for the aisle seat as at 6'4" I need the leg room where ever I can get it and I like to stand and stretch at will without disturbing others. The seat is a matter of what you're comfortable with.

I can never sleep in-flight after the initial 15 minutes from take off. Sleeping pills have no effect on me and I usually drink myself sober half way plus into the flight. Different people/bodies react differently. I always take a book or two

There is a chance of about 30% you'll have some sort of luggage issues.

I've had luggage issues before. I always carry a shirt, pants, and underwear on the carry on in case my luggage doesn't show up.

Darth, if you need to exchange money at the airport on arrival, do a small amount. There are many places in the city that will give you a better return on your dollar.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

Kudos to you for booking a trip and going to see her. You will see here on the forum that a lot of guys talk a good game, but never venture over the FSU. There are tons of what to do's and what not to do's.  You'll have to decide what to listen to and what to ignore. I'm pulling for ya, just like we all are. It wasn't too long ago I was in the same position you are and I was going over to visa for my first time. You seem like a smart guy and you're definitely doing your research/homework. Both will save you lots of time, money and effort.

I wish you and V the best of luck. I hope you have a great time. You're gonna get the whole WOVO/WMVM/have a back up plan posts too. You have to do what's best for you. I went to visit one and it worked out for me. I didn't have a back up plan, because I felt I didn't need one. At the end of the day, you're a grown up, make the right choices for you and yours.

I will say this, do NOT get fooled by the pretty and I'm not telling you to nit-pick, but please don't ignore any red flags just because you want it to work. Only you know know what's a dealbreaker for you.

He's all booked now - hopefully this is included!  8)

It's a long series of flights from the US. I would prefer not to be jet-lagged when I land. I take a sleeping  pill when I'm boarding. With any luck I can sleep for most of the flight. The slight grogginess is nearly all gone by the time I arrive.

Be careful with these. Unless you have used such medication before, your first flight of such length is NOT the place to try them for the first time.  What happens if you have an allergic reaction?  You can't ask the driver to detour to the nearest hospital.  In any case, you may be like me, and find that you don't get jetlag (which, believe me, is an absolute blessing on flights half-way around the world).

Jone made a good point above about the window seat. I had a long flight in which I sat in an aisle seat. The guy in the window seat near me was sick and kept asking me to get up so that he could go to the bathroom or pace in the aisle.

Window seat for me too.  Luckily I'm not as tall as Faux Pas, let alone 2tallbill, but I'm broader across the shoulders than most, so being in a middle seat makes two other people uncomfortable.  Unless you're obsessive about being at the front of the queue for Immigration, trying to rush out of the plane won't achieve anything much.  I may have been lucky, but the only delays I've experienced on arriving in the FSU have been waiting for luggage, not for officialdom.

Agree about the carry-on bag, but the toiletries may be a bit difficult for a guy - I haven't seen shaving cream and deodorant in tiny tubes!  Also, I don't know the situation in North America, but from here you are not allowed to pack laptops in your checked baggage.

Some people bring small electronic devises on which they can watch movies on the flight. I've always taken a book or two on the plane, sometimes a good guidebook to my destination location.

...

Put the phrasebook in your carry-on bag as well.  Although there are posters on here who don't believe you need to worry about learning any Russian or Ukrainian, I beg to differ.  Learning at least the absolute basics will definitely get you some brownie points.  Spending an hour or two brushing up on your language skills at some stage on the journey will never go amiss.  Learning the alphabet, however, is absolutely essential.  Even if you have a GPS unit or app, you will feel much more confident in yourself if you find yourself in some street where there are no signs in English.

The signs here are being changed and have latin alphabet....I think metro is finally changed. In the city center area most people speak English...it is not that hard to get around in Kyiv....

Also be prepared....it is smoking hot here now. 35-38c
