Has anyone been on GUNSEL bus in Ukraine? From what I am seeing, it is a luxury bus company with "flight" attendants. Anyone?
http://www.gunsel.com.ua
I prefer to go by train, but GUNSEL bus leaves Borispol Airport, so I might seek some alternative.

It's me again. I took a bus from Borispol to Kharkov this summer. It was six hours with five breaks for potty and treats. They did have a "Flight Attendant". She served tea or beer and various different treats you could also buy on the bus. Of interest is that you actually buy your seat. I made the mistake of getting in the wrong seat and the lady looked at me like I was a complete rookie. Which I was.
I now just fly into Kharkiv on either Tyrolean or Austrian air. Great connecting flights to LA from Luftansa. And I skip Borispol.

CDW, are you sure the bus leaves from Borispol airport and not from bus station near train station? Check your site again.
I used another bus company before and they leave from airport but go to Kiev bus station before embarking on route. It is shown this way in site.

Don't they have a short term rental plan? ::)
Elsewise what do you do with your 'bought' seat at end of ride?
Is there a fast detach feature so you can quickly get the seat out the door?

I never rode Gunsel myself, but had a few gals arrive and depart on Gunsel when they spent time with me. No great complaints as I recall.

Buying your seat is better than picking your seat! (All eyes were on the woman as she picked her seat!) :o :o :o

CDW, from the site you mentioned, I looked at schedule...and 'start from' box I put 'borispol airport'( it is down near bottom of list) I hit 'side arrow' and nothing shows up!!! Only from Kiev in 'start box' does the schedule of buses you mentioned show up..........just sayin...

It worries me also. I saw a photo of GUNSEL buses, but it was near the Statue of Motherland - as you can see it
I'll have to double check with it

How does it work? Buying a seat???
-
Simples -
You pay at the window at the airport. I believe that the terminal for long distance buses is at the old section of the airport and that you may need to take a shuttle bus from Terminal D to Terminal B. (Someone with more recent knowledge can correct me.)
Buy your ticket and it will have a seat number assigned. While an attendant will serve you tea and have items for purchase on the bus, you can take food with you. Although every long distance trip I have made on these buses have included numerous Talyet stops and places to buy food.

I believe they've moved the bus terminal to Terminal D. Tickets can be bought in the arrivals area and the bus also stops outside in front of the arrivals area. Don't expect the cashiers to speak English, they didn't in August.
-
a quick check on the airports webpage seems to tell you all you need to know ( assuming its updated ofc)
Tickets:

(terminal B)
Bus station
http://kbp.aero/en/about/maps/
(again terminal B)

Pretty stupid system . . . given the huge number of English speakers in Ukraine.
And given the recent advent of free English lessons sponsored by Kyiv city government and some national programs.

That is outdated info, never updated. Buses leaves from Terminal D and go into Kiev and depending on carrier it goes to either main bus station or vydubychi bus station.

You can do it online if you know date and place.

...and from there, onwards to Odessa, L'viv, Kharkiv, etc. I used AutoLux, rather than Gunsel, to go to and from Odessa. About five hours, with only one main stop because there is a toilet on the coach. Really, really nice - and a beautiful "flight attendant" who spoke very good English.

Only 5 hours??? :-\ That 'flight attendant' musta made time fly by. Quickest I've seen is just short of 6 hours one time...... on the VIP bus!!!

This WAS the VIP bus. I think the middle of the day trips are quicker - we left Kyiv at 12.30, got to Odessa just before 17.30. Can't remember what time the return trip left Odessa (10.30?), but it took roughly the same time to get back to Kyiv.

Don't know why current schedule times would be any different:
://autolux.ua/en/schedule/
As you see, the quickest time frame is VIP mid day travel at 6 hours and 5 minutes.

Maybe there are more potholes now! That road, even though it's motorway for a lot of the way, is not the greatest.
