Hello to the UK Membership

I was bored and looking around the site and found this little used area, so thought I would say hi to all the UK members.
Its an opinion, don't get too crazy if you disagree :)

Hi Yannis

I'm up in the North, in the county of Cheshire, or as some would say South Manchester, home of the footballers.
Currently looking at a new load of snow.

Its an opinion, don't get too crazy if you disagree :)

We're enjoying a clear spell, too, temp was 8°C in Milan early this afternoon, and 23°C down in Sicily - they were suntanning on their beaches and swimming ;).

Well, As I'm in London and just got married to a smokinhot...  hello to all the UK members.
My wife is still in Russia while we go through the visa process.   That is probably worth a thread on its own except I am a strange case, being a US citizen, UK resident but no UK or EU citizenship.  An immigration guy told me that UK men have less rights than just about anyone else in the EU regarding getting their women into their home country.  e.g. if  you Wiz were British, your ability to get your wife here by the route you adopted may not have worked.  I have  a file with 30 subsections of data ready for Moscow UK embassy. But first there is a 2-3 wait to get a new internal Russian passport. Then that can be used to get a new Russian International passport ( as Mrs Rambler). Then the new Russian passport can be submitted to the UK consulate, which they will keep until they grant or refuse my wife's visa. That means she cannot travel to see me in a 3rd country until maybe 6-10 weeks from now.  This is absolute BS IMHO but there is nothing one can do about it. Why they think it is OK to hold someone's Passport while they deliberate is beyond me.  A certified copy should suffice until they reach a decision. And then I understand that if they refuse a visa, the refusal is stamped in the applicant's passport?! More BS...

Hello Rambler

and congratulations for your wedding. I just saw your wedding photo and sorry I missed your other posts.

Please remind me... haven't we discussed your case on another thread or probably on another board, specific on visas?

I do not agree with the comments of the immigration officer, because all EU countries are following the EU Directive 589/2001 and as far as I know nothing much has change in the UK regarding getting a spouse Visa. The difference between a UK or a local guy in other EU countries is that they must follow the above directive and have to pay for the FLR and ILR visa. An EU citizen who resides in another EU country then his wife can apply under the Directive 2004/38/EU to join him and the whole process is FREE. That is the route that my wife had to follow because of my Greek Nationality.

The documentations required in both cases it's about the same, when your wife, a third word country national applies for a Spouse visa to UK. BTW I also have the British Nationality and a Passport too!

I don't know the conditions of your residency here because you are an American living in the UK and France so I can't comment about it but if your are bringing your wife to the UK under the UK law then you will need a Schegen Visa for her to travel to France every time you go there!

A new Russian Internal Passport takes 3- 4 days and costs 200 Rubbles to be issued and also a New International Biometric Passport takes a month, as they all now go to Moscow!

The UK consulate will normally  make a decision in 1-2 days or max a week but in your case it may take longer as they will probably refer your case to the UKBorder Agency for a decision and all that depends on your type of residency that you have. I am sure with 30 subsections of Data the CO will not need long time to make the decision, but if they refer your case in London..... then that is the price you have to pay to get her Visa and they need her passport to place the visa on it or refuse as you said!

What is wrong with you visiting Russia in the meantime to show your wife your support, if you have the time and money, as implied in your comments?

Actually the British Rules have been tighten lately but are not more BS than the American rules which take nearly a year to process an immigration Visa.

Any how good luck.

As the UK thread had gone a little quiet I thought I should get some raucous discussion going.

Wimbleton seems to be progressing, so the weather must be good (at least "good" compared to your usual weather).  My June in London a century ago was fine although I did get sprinkled upon briefly every day.   I recall feeling chilled in the mornings and evenings as if I were in San Francisco.

Yes, but they won't change them in banks for other currencies - unless you're in the UK of course.

No problem. Will just give them to the first Brit I come across. Better than letting it go to waste  :)
