A question about photos

When a FSU woman puts photos in her profile I have a few questions. I put in a bikini photo question in starting
out so I won't double post about that here.

First why is it that so few ladies make a big smile. Lilly is the moderator here and look at
her big warm smile. It is friendly and inviting, but so few women make a big smile like that.
Why?

Second, there is an English saying author unknown that they eyes are the windows to the soul.
Why don't more ladies have a close up where you can plainly see their eyes? I have seen many
profiles where it was difficult to see the woman's eye color from her profile photos. (I am red green colorblind so
maybe others can see something I can't)

Third how did you decide which photos to put in your profile?

A lot of women choose photos according to agency’s advices. And agencies advice the following:
- professional photos,
- luring clothes (not erotic, of course, but feminine ).
It’s partly an answer to your questions, I think

I'd say visa versa - you sound a little bit paranoid Imho, It's impossible to adjust some kind of system for women's photos, like: if she is such on photos, it means that and that. All women are different and they choose that photos which they like

2tallbill, don't get offended, please May be it's my English - I didn't want to seem rude I just was trying to say, that women consider so many different things while choosing photos, that it's impossible to say, if the woman is decent of not just because she was wearing swimming suit on her photos Only if she was totaly naked

first of all, the majority of women on the sites never had any kind of image coaching, especially if they are about 20-25 years old fresh from the parent's nest.

All their life, when they have been ever asked to pose for a photograph, they all heard that they should smile. After that, when they saw their photos, many had a big wish to kill the man behind the camera, in a best case  and in a worst case they made a sad conclusion that they are ugly fat moon-faced pigs    Many hate it to be photographed, and don't know how to pose to their best advantage.

On the smiles issue. Nat is right that in Russia small enigmatic smiles are favored. I'd explain it by overall Russian bon ton of having a serious, sober look at every time, and also by daily exposure to a personal contacts face-to-face only. I mean it as opposite to pro modeling or massmedia appearances.

The art of smiling also depends on the shot. Thanks for complimenting my smile by the way  but that kind of smile works only for full size shots. I'd never put it on for a closeup.

On a closeup, I assume you look for how expressive her eyes are, not the color? 
But see, a great eye expression is even more complicated to make than a big inviting smile.. I think it is the reason for having a few closeups. Lots of work needed...And understanding of the importancy.

It is exactly the closeups that made me fall for a man a year ago. He could not apply for Mister Nation, but he had so darn expressive eyes in his profile  They were more talkative than words.

I try to put more pictures that portray me in different situations, from different angles, full sizes and closeups. Also I try to select pictures that show my favorite pastimes and hobbies.

Most people (not only women) hate their own picture. I am sure that a lot of men do not see their own face in the mirror, but how they think they look. For women it will be the same. A picture, even one that is posed for, does not offer that thought mask and there for is often seen as bad.
Women should there for not put the pictures they like, but the ones their friends like. After all the friends see them daily as they are, without that thought mask. If there is a smile in the picture, big or small, it should be real. If the eyes do not match the smile in the picture, the picture will not attract.

1. Bad photographers; no tradition of braces for kids; generally no obsession over the quality of teeth, but when a photo moment occurs, this becomes important; no culture of "big American smiles" in Russia.

2. Out of many photos they choose the ones that accentuate their best assets.  Sometimes it's the eyes, sometimes it't not.

It reminds me of a funny story.
When my Russian friend and I applied for an american visa we were told to make pics with big smiles(for the American embassy).
The day when we went to make pictures was extremely cold,that was probably the coldest day I had ever had in my life before,  by the time we reached that photo agency we couldn't open our mouths and speak well...(I still remember my photo-with huge crazy eyes, red face and big smile of an idiot.)
When my friend showed her photo to her parents her mother asked her why she had opened her mouth...

Blues Fairy, your avatar is an excellent example of what I was suggesting. Your close up of your eyes is incredibly intriguing.
I could not imagine falling for a woman if I didn't like her eyes.

For me, eyes are the ultimate eye candy... they were what captured my attention
from the very beginning, and still do. The bikini stuff, body poses - all that came
later. There's nothing quite as revealing and seductive as the pair that flank the nosebridge!
So many miss that, or at least fail to even mention it.

Her eyes were my #1 qualifier, and my #1 weakness as well. All the rest is gravy.
