Doll is right that Azarov was a Ukrainian citizen, with all the rights that afforded him.  However, Jaresko is now a citizen of Ukraine, and she has lived in Ukraine longer than did Azarov when he was first elected to government.

And yet she favors someone from the old system of corruption, preferably someone approved by the Kremlin, as if they have a right to determine the future of Ukraine.  Old visions of "empire" die hard.

Exactly.

Still, Azarov was born in Russia.

It never ceases to amaze me how for some things some people were born in the CCCP and for other things the same person is a Russian.

Khrushchev was born on April 15, 1894,[1] in Kalinovka,[2] a village in what is now Russia's Kursk Oblast, near the present Ukrainian border.

yeah it is in Russia.

Aleksandr Novak, Russia's current Minister of Energy: Born in Ukraine.

Vladimir Medinsky, Russia's current Minister of Culture: Born in Ukraine.

Mikhail Abyzov current Minister, Head of Russia's Commission for Open Government Affairs: Belorussian, born in Minsk.

Aleksandr Khloponin, current Minister and Deputy Chairman and Presidential Envoy: Born in Sri Lanka.

Dmitry Kozak, current Deputy Prime Minister of Russia: Born in Ukraine.

Since we're comparing who supposedly isn't qualified because they were not born in a certain country, perhaps we should also examine the birthplaces of each Russian member of Parliament.

Then, should we move on to the Federation Council (Senate)?

(To be even-handed, one only needs to have lived in Russia or Ukraine for ten years and be a citizen during that time in order to hold office in either country. Dual citizenship is not allowed for a public official.)

I took time and read about Jaresko. Did you, Mendi?
All her " activity" beginning her first year after graduation? This  is just ONE person but it tells you ( I mean YOU) a lot if not everything.
The whole thing began in 90s . By whom? You know the answer because you are smart.

Formally he was Ukrainian :

In other documents, his ethnicity is listed as Russian.

Brezhnev was not an ethnic Ukrainian, but the above passport was for its own purposes about the "brotherhood" of the Bolsheviks.  Brezhnev, BTW, is not a Ukrainian surname.

Ukrainians were not allowed to serve in the police or the secret service in Ukraine until the 1970's.

Chernenko was an ethnic Ukrainian, however, his passport stated he was Russian.

No it doesn't.  You assume she is a CIA agent.  However, I suspect she is just the daughter of DP's and, like most diaspora Ukrainians with DP parents, she was committed to a free and independent Ukraine.  It is very strong feeling and commitment in that community, going back to the 1950's, far more than you can imagine.

I knew the individual who disbursed grants, millions of dollars, in Ukraine on behalf of the Canadian government.  I suppose you would believe he worked for CSIS, but I know for a fact he did not.

I read her biography when Poroshenko announced her to her post.

I'll ask you again, what are you implying? That she is a spook?

C'mon say it out loud.

Personally, I hope she is. It's about time Ukraine shifted her direction.

you know it is amazing how easy some of the population will want to believe in the conspiracy theorys that certain russian media outlets are making inuendos about with the new appointment of these ministers,

ukraine has to change if it wants a more western type of structure throughout its gov etc
thing is to geT  that change you need to bring in new people , new skills , new ways to achive that change ,

people want it , but there so scared to step out of the known way of life to get it , and this fear plays right into mr putins continuing unabated media storys

I want to compliment the brilliance of our Russian speaking Putin lovers.  You are smart!

So glad we protect and do not mock or criticize the Russian President.  He needs all the help he can get.  Life is pretty lonely when you are an @$$hole.

Ukrainian Students Sell 'Blood of Russian Children' Drinks at School Bake Sale

The St. Petersburg Times

Published: December 9, 2014
A group of schoolchildren in southeastern Ukraine has prompted an outcry after selling items with names such as "Blood of Russian Children" and "Tanks to Moscow" at a charity bake sale organized to raise funds for Ukrainian troops.

The baked goods, prepared by the schoolchildren with the help of their parents and activists from the "Family Community" group, carried special thematic names in order to attract attention to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian news site Inshe.tv reported.

Guests were offered treats called "[Russian lawmaker Vladimir] Zhirinovsky's brain," "Tanks to Moscow," "Yellow-and-Blue Stars on the Kremlin," — in an apparent reference to a Ukrainian takeover of Russia's center of government — and a drink called "Blood of Russian Children" to wash it all down.

Ukraine has been a divided country ever since the ousting of former pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in February and Russia's annexation of the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea a month later. The West and the new Kiev government have accused Russia of supporting separatists in the country's eastern Donbass region with military aid — a claim the Russian government denies.

Online news site LifeNews cited the Ukrainian schoolchildren as saying their teacher had helped them come up with the "fun names" for the baked goods.

The fundraising event, called "Give a Soldier Warmth," was part of a series of bake sales held at various schools to raise money to buy thermal clothing for Ukrainian troops, the report said. More than 5,000 hryvnas ($323) was collected at the latest bake sale, held on Dec. 4 in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv.

The bake sale also saw the student who presented the best treats given a flag signed by Ukrainian fighters who battled pro-Russian separatists at the Donetsk Airport, Inshe.tv reported.

Photos and video of the event published by the Russian media over the weekend triggered an outcry among many Russian commentators.
"In Donbass they're killing children, and in peaceful territories they're killing the souls of children," one Russian commentator wrote on state new agency RIA Novosti's website.
