The "Ignore" feature is alive and well.
« on: February 05, 2013, 06:33:01 PM »
Allow me to help you to rediscover an old friend.  The Ignore button.  While he may have changed slightly in appearance, he still swats those pesky nemeses right out of your vision cone.  Enjoy The Peace. The Quiet. The Solemnity.  All you must do to attain this higher level of awesomeness is a bit of clicking and typing, a final click.. and then use your willpower to refrain from removing the ignore just to see what the ignored had to say about YOU!  ;D

Bring that mouse cursor to the top menu and click on "Profile"
On the left side under the Modify Profile heading, click on "Buddies/Ignore List"
On the new page you'll see "Edit Buddies" (highlighted) and TA-DA! "Edit Ignore List" -- uh, click the latter one.

Enter the username of the future ostracized in the text box.. click ADD.. and VO-EEELA!  No more annoyance!

(But we'll still be talking about you...)

Dave, it seems there used to be a feature in a person's own profile where it indicated how many people had you on ignore.  I don't see it now.  Has that been eliminated?  If no, then where is it specifically?

I would like to see, so that I can complain if someone has me on ignore . . . and also complain if no one has me on ignore.

Of course, I was just pulling your chain I/O. I've never iggy'd anyone. But, I've beat around these boards for quite awhile. I was around and remember when you met your wife. I actually, knew you from another board where a clue bat would have been very helpful to many but, mightily forbidden

I'm aware (more than so) of that board but for the record, I met Mrs I/O long before I came near any board.

I seem to recall that, too. Seems she was a sister or friend/terp of one you dated previously? The stories often run together and the ole memory isn't what it once was

I've never iggy'd anyone.

If I recall right (Shadow will know), SMF's default set up is so mods cannot ignore anyone and members cannot ignore mods. It defeats the object otherwise.

Handy for Jack and Ed though. Although from when I have tried it here, there is always the temptation to have a peek.........

That is the default setup. But for the mod team here the reverse is done.  :P

No one has addressed my question . . . where is  the ignore count now?

It has been tweaked out by SMF, probably because it became more as a trophy than a useful feature.

Yeah but I've never iggy'd anyone anyway. Never saw the point. Completely oblivious, dense, self-control you name it, any fits. I can only recollect  one poster that actually caused a angry reaction from me. I made up my mind that if it ever happened again, it would be my last day

That mod (or built in feature, not sure which) was lost with the software upgrade which also removed the convenient Ignore button.

But the basic functionality remains though more obscure.

Did a brief test.  I ignored you and Mod3..  and checked a thread where you both posted..  I've not actually placed anyone on ignore before, so perhaps this is a unique functionality, but as a mod, i can place anyone on ignore, but they remain in a semi living, walking dead, monster in the mist, somewhere between heaven and hell state .. ahhhhhh perhaps in Post Purgatory!

Edit: PM's would probably be similar, but since neither one of you felt moved by the Spirit of Increased Knowledge and Awareness to send me a PM within that couple minute window, we can't know for sure...  8)
