Good news! :clapping: RW got a few days off and will be joining me here from Wednesday to Saturday. Still have no idea when the paperwork for the visa will arrive though.

Won't that screw up dating local Kharkiv gals ?

Well, I'm still in Kharkov. They said 2 weeks but things rarely happen on schedule when it comes to Russia.

My RW came last week by bus (17 hours). She was at the border for 4 hours as the Ukrainians went through everyone's luggage and then questioned them individually, asking why they were coming to Ukraine, which cities they were visiting, bluntly asking if they were a spy and then implying that a bribe would speed the process along.  The weather was nice and we had a fantastic time, we saw several museums and monasteries and even saw the philharmonic orchestra. After she left, I got nailed by the flu, so I've been laying in bed the last several days doing absolutely nothing.

The invitation finally arrived today, I will go to the office across the street from the consulate to fill out the paperwork with Mila tomorrow. Maybe next week I'll finally be back in Russia.

Sorry about your flu.  That sucks.

. . . asking if they were a spy . . .

That usually works . . . doesn't it ?

You need to work in your timing.

If you could have contracted the flu while she were there . . . the two of you could have been laying in bed together her entire trip.

Now, she will probably develop the flu later.

On a shoestring budget (they barely had lights) I think its as sophisticated as Ukrainian border security gets. She also mentioned that there was a prisoner swap in the no man's land between the borders. Two men got out of a car from the Ukrainian side and two other men got into it from the Russian side.

I don't think we fell asleep before 4 am on any night, so we spent a lot of time laying in bed ;D.

I went to the consulate with Mila today and finally got the visa approved at a cost of $160. I think I paid $400 last time I got one in the States using a service and FedEx. It will be ready on Friday and I will be back in Russia by the end of the weekend.
