Angel Eyes speaks decent English. I don't know how much she learns.
She likes going to the class and it keeps her out of trouble.

And you can retire to the man-cave with Mini-Me...

Here in Washington, most immigrants can sign up for English classes at the local Literacy council. They usually only charge about 10.00 per class if I remember correctly.
It costs $35.00 for the quarter, $10.00 - for refugees and such. Waste of time, in my opinion. The only plus for me was the job offer after first quarter of classes.
Different nationalities are in class from Somali, Myanmar, Vietnam, many Kurds, Iraqis, many from Latin America, many from Ukraine. None from Russia.  :D May be they don't come here, may be they know English well enough.

Cal could have hired a private tutor for the cost of what he says he's paying. I'd have her picking up an engineering degree while she's there

I've taken graduate level businss courses at UCLA that weren't as expensive.  But that is the way our university system works.

I only went to the first class with Angel Eyes, but in my opinion none of her classmates
were as educated as her or Whynotme.

Yes, Mini-Me and I break out his trucks and tractors and have a great time on the living
room carpet. Then I tell him "let's go get Mamma!" and he runs to the closet to get his
shoes. (He knows he can't go without them on his feet)

Big Bill . . . what about your teenage daughter?

How did she fare changing high schools again ?

Is she about ready for college now ?

Trippin in turkey's
« Reply #1083 on: November 24, 2016, 12:33:36 PM »
We are having Thanksgiving with a Ukrainian couple and an American named Fred
(not his real name)

I'm cooking the Turkey, mashed potatoes and I've been told to make potato salad
last minute as well (Angel Eyes requested it) which would mean I have to go back
to the store, which I hate to do on Thanksgiving.

My 26 year old son is making chocolate cheesecake pies and pumpkin pies.
Angel Eyes is making Shuba and other various treats.

Fred is making sweet potatoes and the Ukrainian couple are making bread and
some kind of salad, hors d'oeuvres and other specialties that I was told about
in Russian but quickly forgot zarkuski?

Mini me loves to help and already took all the pots and pans out of the cupboards
and reorganized them for us on the floor.

We are now at the high for the day +1F (-17C)
and it should stay nice like this until 4 pm when
it will start getting cold again and the wind will pick
up. Later tonight -11F and windy. (-24C)

Mini-me always like to lend a hand getting the snow
shoveled and taken care of.

I don't know.  I assume it is used as animal feed.

I once read that clover can be planted over fallow land to prevent other weeds from growing, but also does not grow back the next season.  So perhaps it was fallow fields?

Maybe, but they don't do much fallow farming in Western Oregon.
My guess is that they feed it to cows or dairy cows. Clover is supposed
to make tasty milk, but I am far from an expert in dairy cows.

I never got formal classroom training in farming, but did spend summers at my Grandparent's farm in bountiful Iowa.

They grew both clover and alfalfa for their cows.
I was involved in the processes of cutting, letting it cure a few sunny days on the ground, raking up into rows and then either loading with pitchfork onto hay wagon, or watching as hired machine operators baled it.

If it were loose hay, we had a pulley system that lifted up large stacks off the hay wagon and hoisted up and into the hayloft of the barn.

Anyway, clover was like a special treat for the animals; they really loved it.

One big danger . . . if cows ever got into a wet clover field in error . . . they often died as extensive gas was produced inside that could not be expelled.

We would find them dead and blown up so far they looked like round balloons.  If they were noticed soon enough (before death), a knife could be stuck into strategic spots in their stomachs that would allow the gas to escape.  I saw my Grandfather do it once.

It's very common with horses, they don't have the multi chamber stomachs that cows
do. I have similar experiences, it's more dry in Central Oregon (you need more water
for alfalfa or clover) and we would make hay out of some of our wheat. I started stacking
bales and driving a farm truck when I was 10-11 years old.

5 years ago today I made the fateful decision to go to a water blessing at a church
with Angel Eyes rather than go back to my apartment to have sex with another girl.
It turned out to be a great decision!

Surely you could have achieved both with a little planning.

Surely you could have achieved both with a little planning.

While it might have made for a great story, more likely I would have screwed things
up with both girls. Green eyed girl was clearly not for me and I would have had to
get to my apartment in record time, deceive her to get her naked, do the deed and
then somehow get out of my own apartment in one piece while not smelling like sex,
then getting back in record time to the Church, all in under two hours. Without James
Bond style knock out gas it would have been highly improbable.

I realize that you were writing in jest, but I had been looking for 9 long years and
I had just found an excellent candidate for Mrs 2tallbill, so I made a decision and
stuck with it. If I could go back in time, I would make the exact same decision again.

Trippin to Denver
« Reply #1096 on: January 31, 2017, 05:00:48 PM »
Mini Me turned 2 years old. We went to the Aquarium in Denver.

As you can see he is two fisted, with a bottle and a sippy cup.
My sister made this famous years ago, when she carried both a tequila
shooter and a wine glass.

Mini-me got the anti shark dive suit, while I had to hold my breath

There are a lot of dials, gauges, switches and settings to monitor at an
aquarium. As you can see mini me has everything under control.
You can also note that Angel Eyes dresses the poor boy as if he could be
caught in a blizzard at any time!.

Gotta have that birthday cake!

It's better to look down at the fish
