Am I missing something, or there's not much to go on with here yet, except your pun ::)? Why don't you give it a more informative start ;)?

Ok, as soon as we have a fashion thread I would like to ask a question.
A couple of days ago I saw one thread on a russian forum where a RW living in the USA asked other RW a question.

The story:she came to an american college in a short fur coat and everybody laughed at her, she wanted to know why. When she went along the street people didn't pay attention to her and when she entered her college Americans started laughing saying that she had a funny coat.
 :)

Serebro,

Many American college students are juvenile and self centered. Fur is not "fashionable" with college students, and since clothes are such a big issue, especially with American girls, wearing something out of the norm makes you an easy target for ridicule.

She didn't get laughed at on the street because these people are living in the real world and have too many other things on their mind to laugh at or worry about what others are wearing.

For men or women ? For women, they've been around since the 1950s, called "alla pescatora" (fisherman's style), or "Capri" or "St. Tropez" pants.

No MEN'S    We have capri pants for the ladies here too, but not for MEN. If I was seen in those by my co workers (I am a welder)  I would be kicked out of the Men's Union.   ROFL

My MIL bought me a pair of "Adidas brand" (???) shorts that had legs down to the lower calves (Blue cotton fabric in a tartan design) when I was in Dnepr last time and I thought they looked ridiculous...

The first time I wore them my BIL ran off into the bedroom to change into his identical pair and we looked equally bizarre as we walked down to the local market together.

Thankfully NO ONE pointed at us and doubled over in laughter - even if I felt like doing that myself!   :-[

During her recent trip here I took a punt and put them on one morning and you'd think we'd just "presented her with our first child"...  but nothing...  NOTHING... could have got me out of our house wearing them!   ;)

Awwwwwww you blokes have no sense of adventure. The Mrs conned me into buying a pair (Very plain colour) a few weeks ago much against my better judgement, but they do make for great evening beach walks paddling a little in the water and all that mushy romantic stuff whilst still staying somewhat warm. I've kinda gotten to quite like them and as far as what other people think, see below for my response...........................

Rod started this thread because he had quite a bit of advice about what to wear to meet an RW
in a different thread. He thought (and I agree) that a good "what to wear in the FSU" was a good
idea for a new thread.

I would recommend dressing for a meeting in nice slacks, a dress shirt and comfortable but stylish
dress shoes (since you will be walking a lot!).

On a second date you could dress a little more casually but still something like dockers, button up
shirt and leather shoes (not sneakers)

Dress for success, I believe is the best way to describe my belief on how to dress in the FSU.
