Aussie FB would take top rank if it wasn't for the *short-shorts* these dudes are wearing. Kind'a creepy, man.

I must admit for male spectators, men in short shorts isn't the most  pleasant sight, but  the Aussie women love it  ;)

I would suggest you book a trip, go on one, write a trip report for us here with photos and show us what progress you are making.

You mean like all the photos you posted?

 :zap:

Trench, we are taking football now.

American football...one that is a heck of a lot fun. Not your kind which sucks. I can tolerate a Cricket ODI a lot better than soccer played by a bunch of sissies who fall to the ground grabbing their legs and crying if there is even the slightest of contact. ;D

Better when you added 'American' to 'football' ..it distinguishes between the one with the global following and the one that has more ad breaks than action.. ;)

Cricket ? Even a five day test match has more action than American 'football'..  At least in proper football the 'sissies' have  no need to dress in armour....

I'm happy the Beagles were able to cheer you up. One loss for the Seahawks isn't the end of the world. They'll be in the playoffs and win when it counts because they know I need a new Super Bowl jacket to replace the one I got a few years ago. How's your Super Bowl jacket doing?

Don't scoff too loudly, Moby (and I say that as a passionate cricket fan) - it's not cricket where the former players are being diagnosed left, right and centre with brain injuries due to concussion.  Without the armour some of those huge hits could prove fatal.

Getting a little ahead of yourself. They lost to an overrated team with an all-time great QB and may be two good players. SHEhawks are going to get that small QB killed behind that awful OL. BTW, how many weeks before that overrated POS Sherman starts throwing his teammates under the bus? Nice soap opera in the NW.

As for my Eagles, all I want is our QB to show great improvement this year. We are rebuilding and I will be happy with anything more than a .500 record.

wallm,

I see you have your own opinions regarding my Packers.  Being at the game, I can tell you that the team last year is not the team this year.  The big change is their defense.

Aside from sacking Wilson three times, once causing a fumble on the six yard line, the defense was significant in that it did not allow a touchdown.  Now I will tell you that the offensive line for Seattle did not look good.  Our guys would make a single move and then already be in the backfield chasing the quarterback.

But, without question, Seattle still has an outstanding defense.

Whether the Packers are an 'overrated' team is a matter of opinion.  There are sixteen more weeks of football.  Hope everyone enjoys them.

Perhaps jone. Rodgers is my favorite player in the NFL. I always thought the defense was so poor, it held him back from winning more titles. I doubt this year will be any different. We shall see.

No - AMERICAN Football (Gridiron) players.

Then I fail to understand your 'logic'

They are all padded up and wearing headgear..

Many cricket players wear protective head gear..

Proper footballers only protection care shin guards...

Hence I was amused by another poster referring to sissies)

Because the soccer- Frailing about likevyou lost a limb,to attempt to get a penalty - has always been pathetic.

It's not that I like american football or soccer , never a team sports fan.

My chosen sport was  just a bit rougher and more hazardous  than any mentioned. Lol

Quite... and those indulging in same are [ at last ] finding that their theatrics - if not spotted by the referee - it's called 'simulation' -  means a worse penalty than being caught out on the pitch ..

Yes, and being hit a hundred times a game, many of those in the head, by guys weighing 120 kg or more.

Many cricket players wear protective head gear..

And how many of them ever get hit there?  If they do, it's by a ball travelling at 150 km/h (enough to do very serious damage), but very few ever get hit multiple times - and never in the same game, or one on one by another player.

Proper footballers only protection care shin guards...

Yes, because the rules of "real" football supposedly preclude physical violence, whereas American football encourages it.

Hence I was amused by another poster referring to sissies)

I honestly don't think you can be a sissy if you play ANY contact sport.

Agreed.
I respect anyone with the talent and drive to get to any level in professional sports.
I know a lot of guys personally in my old sport paralyzed, several killed.
Most contact sports  or motorsports  ,are not for the timid.
Some combine a bit of both at times.lol
I've had over 30 broken bones and 7 major surgeries,  metal parts installed in various bits head to toe.
It's not a very good selling point to fsuW. ; )

I think if Moby was to go to a live NFL game and he saw how big and fast the players are, he would change his tune. I am 6' 3" 240 pounds, a pretty big guy. I was on a flight to Seattle in 2002 sitting next to a man who was just picked up off wavers by the Seattle Seahawks. He was an offensive lineman. He dwarfed me. The man was massive, and not fat.

Moby the energy transferred in a single hit is a bit more than a kick to the shins. And before you bring up rugby. Rugby players are very small compared to the smallest NFL players.

Not always.  There are plenty of guys playing rugby at the top level who are 6' 4" or more, and many others who may be shorter but weigh 130 kg or more.

I have been to several and Rounder ( sorry baseball) games ... I admit this was in the late 80's and 90's ..My opinion is based on those experiences.

Too many breaks ... Cricket is more exciting ))

. And before you bring up rugby. Rugby players are very small compared to the smallest NFL players.

That depends on the position they play ..

Now you are comparing apples with oranges!

But as you raised the subject:

Since Rugby Union went professional the increase in size of players has been noticeable:

http://theconversation.com/not-so-gentle-giants-how-rugby-players-are-getting-bigger-23978

How much does a NFL player weigh ? 248lbs ?  = 112.5 kg...  not so different...

http://www.answers.com/Q/How_much_does_an_average_NFL_football_player_weigh

Now, I readily admit I was just joshing my N.American friends - but I promise my opinion is based on trying out the experience )

Yes. I was going to use the F***skins reference but thought it may violate TOS.

Wentz is playing well but got 2 INTs off tip balls. Weird. The guy is tall. We have zero running game and our OL is awful. Somehow it was rated #1 OL in the league by PFF. They must have been high when saying that.  :D

The Boys got spanked yesterday. hmm.....didn't expect that.
