We had to go to Fargo for USCIS and it's only 4 1/2 hours each way,
but luckily I had a helper when we came to a rest stop.

It's good to have somebody to keep an eye on the gauges and stuff.

Ankle deep in baby poop
« Reply #902 on: December 13, 2015, 12:18:43 PM »
Warning don't read immediately before or during meals. The title should be
warning enough but this secondary warning has been provided for those lacking
common sense but would blame me anyway for spoiling their appetite.

Angel Eyes insisted that we buy a baby potty toilet and every time my boy
mini-me passed gas she strips off his diaper and puts him on the baby toilet
and makes sounds that are supposed to induce toilet use. About half the time
he looks around as if we are cRaZy to ever think he would pee or poop in
or on such a thing. The other half of the time he actually uses it to pee or poop.

So, I get put in charge of the baby, while Angel Eyes runs some errands. I am
working on spreadsheets for the next year's business plan.

My boy Mini-me starts ripping farts like he had beans and beer for breakfast.
My lazy gene tells me not to worry, let him poop in the diaper and not to worry
about it. Angel Eyes is due back any second and next years business plan is due
next week. Unfortunately, my lazy gene didn't win out so I took off the boy's
diaper and put him on the baby toilet.

Mini-me looks at me like I'm crazy and scoots off the baby toilet and crawls under
a table. I start looking at last years sales and my spreadsheets and two minutes
later look up and see that Mini-me pooped on the carpet  :o and has baby poop
smeared all over himself.

I fly into action as the official barn door closer after the livestock has fled and put the
boy back on the baby toilet which only causes poop to be spread further. I call Angel
Eyes but she doesn't answer because her phone is ringing and is plugged in less than
three feet (one meter) away.

I haul Mini-me into the bathroom and start cleaning up baby poop off the baby. I see
that this isn't going to be a job for baby wipes and more likely the job for a fire hose.
I get about 90% of the baby poop cleaned off the boy and Angel Eyes shows up to
wondering why I am running bathwater. I briefly explain that there is a pile of poop
on the carpet and that the boy still needs a thorough cleaning as well.

She elects to take over the baby washing and sends me to deal with the carpet. I
eventually get the carpet clean. She will clean it again as well since she has standards
that rival most world class biological containment labs and I learned my lesson.

The lesson learned being "trust your lazy gene!!"

My son who is now 25 did far worse. My exwife used to think that while I was working
in my office that I could simultaneously also watch a toddler. She would come home
and yell at me "You were supposed to be watching the baby!!!" To which I always
replied "I was" and then look to see that he had taken off his diaper and coated most
of the kitchen floor and refrigerator in baby poop.

My Russian wife has no such expectations of me, while I'm working except for this one
time, which of course I failed badly (and she wasn't surprised).

Mini-me is about 1/3 to 1/2 potty trained. Which means if AE is watching him she can
read his mind and put him on the baby toilet when he needs to pee or poop. Some days
he doesn't even dirty or wet a diaper. I don't have the mind reading gene and the boy
doesn't talk much yet (he is very fluent in gibberish), so when he's with me he will use
the diaper.

While we were in Fargo ND to deal with USCIS I had searched and found a
market that sold Eastern European goods. I drove up to the store and said
we should look in it. Angel Eyes will look in any store for any reason without
question. She is a professional shopper and can spend all day just looking and
be totally happy.

However, when she started seeing all this Eastern European stuff, she gave me
the baby and did a quick inventory of every item in the entire store. She was in
temporary sensory overload. Then she pulled out her cell phone and activated
her North Dakota FSU girl network to see what she needed to buy for them.

Then she slowly strolled the entire phone will giving a running commentary of
the items available on each isle, refrigerator case etc. It was a little dinky store
but I got a cart because I could put Mini-me in it for short duration's I didn't
want to try to hold all the items Angel Eyes was going to select.

I picked out a big jar of caviar and put it in the cart. AE looked at it and put it
back. "Beel eet eeesn't fresh and eeet's expensive." I said "you can't get fresh
caviar 1700 miles (2735km) from the ocean"

So I put it back in the cart and told her I wanted blini with caviar for Christmas or
New Years so she left it in the cart since New Years is an acceptable reason to splurge
on a treat.

AE will look at every item and physically touch 50% of them or more. She will read labels
and reject or accept various items. After we had a cart segregated by the end user I
bought all the items in three separate purchase and AE was beaming.

We ate lunch in a restaurant then headed home. It's only 4.5 hours away and it's snowing.

More to follow...........

My wife can actually make stuff like this out of yarn. (I tried to post a photo here but
today it's not cooperating.

http://prjaga.ru/vyazanie-dlya-detej/noski-tapki-pinetki/pinetki-spicami-dlya-novorozhdennyh

One of her friends from Moldova bought a dress for $250.00 that she mistakenly
used American sizes and the dress was way too big for her. So Angel Eyes, takes
her down to her basement laboratory and makes a zillion measurements and two
days later her Moldovan friend has a dress that fits her perfectly.
.
I had a bag of old shirts and stuff that I was going to use for oil/paint rags and
Angel Eyes turned it into clothing for Mini-me.

Threads like this are simply  and a great start to the day..

FSU ladies are wonderful.. got woken up with a viber message - 5am my time - with a series of photos - asking me if she was viewing Lasers from her beach in Thailand and should she approach them to ask where one could hire one..she knows I love sailing LASERS on a windy day.

Please excuse the Curmudgeon in my posts ..he will be cured by being reunited with his loved one ;)

ML, Angel Eyes has a similar variety too, they were on a different shelf.
She has cucumbers and apples in every kind of jar and lid.

I don't know if anyone's been watching but the price of oil has dropped to
$30.00 per barrel and construction has slowed down considerably in Norf Dekody.

So I got a sales job in Denver covering Northern Colorado and I came up here
and have been living in hotels for the last 25 days. I'll move Angel Eyes and my
family here as soon as I find a place to live. So here I am sitting in a hotel room
bored to tears and missing my wife and family.

Colorado is one of the places where I could easily have lived. The problem is getting a good job. It would certainly have been on my short list. North Dakota would be at the bottom of a long list.

Congratulations, Bill! You have gained admission to and an economic basis (your new job) for living in one of the best places in the US! As a NoCo (Northern Colorado) expat living in my new home of Lviv, UA, I envy you and really miss my US home (Loveland).

By the way, great photos of you at 'Red Rocks', but you failed to identify this locale, for forum readers, as one of the most famous and scenic outdoor concert venues in the entire world ...located near Morrison, CO, just west of Denver, in the foothills of the Rockies.

Going back to the photos of home canned food, you showed a lot of jars that would not seal properly. You are better off to use only proper canning jars with new lids each time. Also, the rings should be removed from the jars after the lids are sealed and the jars have cooled. If you go to use a jar and the lid is not pressed down (and properly sealed) you should discard the product.

If you are doing canning in a high altitude area, you would need ot use a pressure cooker to make sure you process the product at a high enough temperature to kill all the germs.

While I agree with you, convincing an FSUW that what they've been doing
for years is dangerous or will kill you is futile. I bought a bunch of canning
jars and lids and Angel Eyes filled them like a good girl. I would have bought
more if she told me, but she didn't and started using various jars and lids
that she has been squirreling away for months.

I've eyeballed her technique and the jars and lids. While the jars and lids
aren't ideal, I've decided that if she hasn't killed anybody by now that we
are probably going to live. I'll buy more jars and more lids each year and
maybe eventually we will have enough to contain her harvests.

If we all die tomorrow, I can surely say that I've enjoyed the ride thus far.

Udachi!

Great thread, Bill! Hang in there. You will all be back together soon. We had a garden the first two years she was here but she decided it was more cost effective and less time consuming to get our vegetables from the International Store. As long as she is cooking them it is all good :-))
