In Celebration to Georgia's 1500 anniversary Prominent Georgian sculptor
Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-meter aluminium figure of a woman
in Georgian national dress. She symbolizes the Georgian national character:
in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends,
and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies

This very much symbolizes Georgian philosophy. They will very easily welcome
you into their homes as a friend, but if you want a scrap, they will accommodate
you with that as well.

Sergei Parajanov



Sergei Parajanov (January 9, 1924 – July 20, 1990) was an Armenian film director
and artist from the Soviet Union who made significant contributions to Ukrainian,
Armenian and Georgian cinema. He invented his own cinematic style, which was
totally out of step with the guiding principles of socialist realism (the only sanctioned
art style in the USSR). This, combined with his controversial lifestyle and behavior,
led Soviet authorities to repeatedly persecute and imprison him, and suppress his films.

So back to my search for the future Mrs 2tallbill

I was told that by the girl that I came to see that although she liked me
very much, and thought I was handsome, charming, etc that she wouldn't
be moving forward with me and that she wasn't romantically interested in
me.

What most people here don't know is that most never married Georgian girls
are virgins.

When I say most, let's say 80% of the never married girls under 35 years old. 

I was not searching in Georgia for a virgin. I would have preferred a girl who wasn't
a virgin. In my mind finding a girl in her early thirties that is a virgin only tells you that
she managed NOT to have sex for her entire life. How is that an advantage? or even
preferable? in my mind at my age, it's not.

The main advantage is that she would be free of STD's and some sexual hangups
but who knows what kind of hangups she might have from being a virgin for 30+
years?

I spent a lot of time getting to know this girl. If I didn't like her so much then I would
have rejected her because she was a virgin. She was really smart, really pretty, well
educated and her English was off the charts good. She was funny, interesting and she
really did have amazing eyes. She was the whole package which is why I decided to
go meet her.

Didn't they say that about WW half a century ago?  Wasn't true then, and I doubt it's true about Georgian girls.  Society imposes that on them, so I suspect they say they're virgins, even if they are not.

I doubt it's true about Georgian girls.  Society imposes that on them, so I suspect they say they're virgins, even if they are not.

I knew that people would question this but they live in a different society.
I wish I could get Alenika or one of my Georgian friends here to comment.

The girls are not permitted out, unchaperoned. They are kept with their
family at all times. However, I don't know this is true, it's only what I've
been told. I had a very, very, difficult time meeting Georgian girls on my
own.

Yeah I think you've been fed a bill of goods, too. Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see. Georgian culture I understand is a bit different and not as open sexually as other places but, not 80% virgins different? It's not as open but, that doesn't mean they're not having sex. Your experience only means they didn't have sex with you

I think Bill is more accurate, than not, about the virginity stuff.  My knowledge comes from talking privately, with a guy married to a Georgian girl, among other sources.

Bill, did you get up into the mountains at all?  There are mountains near Tbilisi, am I correct?

It's not Russia or Ukraine, I've been to Russia 5 times and to Ukraine 5 times and I
didn't get laid during my first trip to Russia yet I didn't go around saying that the girls
were all virgins.

I'm not an inexperienced newbie, I made 99 Georgian friends on MySpace and
communicated frequently with several of them. I made over 1100 FSUW friends
on MySpace and I am very good at communicating with them. I've frequently
invited them to chat and they've interacted with some of the guys here. Larry
and others are sure to remember.

I also had conversations with quite a number of Foreigners who were living in Georgia.
Many of them worked for American companies who had operations there. They would
work in Georgia for a month or so then fly out. NONE of them had local girl friends.

me and that's true, but your experience in Georgia is zero.

There aren't any MOB agencies and there never have been any in Georgia. Go online
and check the MOB sites, they might have one or two girls from Georgia on them but
just as likely they have none.

here but most of the girls I know from my trip are married now.

No, I spent my entire time in Tblisi. The mountains in Georgia are amazing.

Bill,  my apologies if you took my comment as a hit on you or your character, it wasn't. I just disagree with you. You are correct, my experience in Georgia is zero. However, your one trip and 99 My space pals is hardly a qualifier for you as all knowledgeable on the virtues of Georgian women. I realize your 80% is nothing more than a haphazard guess. My guess from what I know (granted which is next to nil) would be wayyy less and yes, that is only a guess as well.

I know some Georgians and 6-8 of them happen to be younger females. I know their sexuality is tied to their family honor and that is held in high esteem in Georgian society and firecely protected by the males of the family. But, that doesn't make them virgins. It would lend itself to making them much more selective and secretive but hardly virgins. FWIW

In the small town I grew up in, it was always the pastor's daughters that fooled around.  It was because of the severe restrictions placed on them in an otherwise somewhat permissive society.

This.  Just my two cents, but from what little I've heard, it's more like a traditional Muslim country than most Western countries.  They might not be 80% virgins, but I suspect they are extremely cautious.
