Hi, thought I'd introduce myself... if you can't work out my name ask one of the mods to figure it out.  

I found the 'other board' extremely handy for logistics for some of my holidays to the FSU so I'm always happy to return the favour. I've made four trips to CIS countries (Minsk, Moscow, Kiev, Almaty, Semipalatinsk/Semey, Bishkek, Karakol, Cholpan-Ata), including living in Almaty, and recently returned from a trip there and Kyrgyzstan.

I'm no expert but if you're after info about one of the cities I've been to, particularly Minsk or Almaty, send me a pm and I might be able to assist (though I haven't been to Minsk in two years)... if I don't reply quickly it's probably because I don't visit forums all that often these days.

I remember your adventure in Kazahkstan. You're probably more an expert than most of us since you've lived in the FSU more than most guys visit. Popular movie called "Borat" is out now. The guy is supposed to be from Kazahkstan although he's a comedian from England I believe. The movie is not so popular in the FSU though.
