Chris Cornell, lead singer from Soundgarden, got back at the label company by making the soundtrack for Casino Royal 2006 James Bond movie.

Speaking of soundtracks, the one rocker-turned ST artist is Dan Elfman of the old Oingo-Boingo. ..."all dressed-up with nowhere to go"....

You can't be a lower-left coaster if you don't like these guys, .

Guilty pleasure .

GQ Blues,

You sure know your music! Song from Extreme is a real classic. These guys have been really underrated. Got their albums
The famous Red Hot Chilli Peppers! Big fan of them! Flea is their talisman, that guy is truly incredible.

Soundtracks seem to bring the best out of all artists involved. I tried looking for Batman Forever soundtrack by Smashing Pumpkins but could only retrieve this 3rd version, unworthy of the band.

Yeah 3T...Flea's a huge Laker fan. Ran into him during one of the games in the hallway and he's one of the coolest khat around these parts.

Speaking of Extreme, like Nirvana/Cobain's groove, that song is a half step at Eb. I have no problem tuning down the 6-stringers and play that song note for note but I can never hit the vocal pitch. If you listen to Cobain's works, you'll recognize that step down pitch. Much too tough for me.  :-[

Extreme II: one more tune I like that was a soundtrack is . This always seem to energize me and
can't help but see MD kicking a few booties around, man.

Moby, one man army. I have to hand it to him: he is a genius of the new generation. I did not know he did the 'Bourne Identity' (great series)

James bond version was excellent too

Got to do some Time Trial miles in the gym

Later..

"Dani California"

Getting born in the state of Mississippi
Papa was a copper and mama was a hippie
In Alabama she would swing a hammer
Price you gotta pay when you break the panorama
She never knew that there was anything more than poor
What in the world does your company take me for

Black bandanna, sweet Louisiana
robbin' on a bank in the state of Indiana
She's a runner, rebel and a stunner
On her merry way sayin; baby whatcha gonna
Lookin' down the barrel of a hot metal .45
Just another way to survive

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
YEAH, YEAH

She's a lover baby and a fighter
Shoulda seen it coming when it got a little brighter
With a name like Dani California
The day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya
A little loaded, she was stealing another breath
I love my baby to death

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
YEAH, YEAH

Who knew the other side of you?
Who knew that others died to prove
Too true to say good bye to you
Too true, too sad sad sad..

Push the fader gifted animator
One for the now and eleven for the later

Never made it up to Minnesota
North Dakota man was a gunnin' for the quota

Down in the badlands she was savin' the best for last
It only hurts when I laugh
Gone too fast..

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release,
California show your teeth,
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
YEAH, YEAH
California rest in peace
Simultaneous release,
California show your teeth,
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
YEAH, YEAH

(WTF is he talking about?)

Sculpto,

California seems to be a reoccurring theme in some of their songs. 'Under the Bridge' and 'Cali fornication' are the others I know of supporting this fact. When I see Anthony I will ask.

SC's cred tags Dani Gal as a personification of an average American PYT who finds (mostly losts) her way in La-La-Land with lovely dreams of grandeur in making it big.

Dani California are compiled sagas of the songwriter's girlfriends past, so the rumor goes, that generally 'fit' the mold of a Dani Gal...

'Dani' crossed-over many of the band's tunes, including 'Californication'.

Californication lyrics
Songwriters: Balzary, Michael Peter; Frusciante, John; Smith, Chad; Kiedis, Anthony;

Psychic spies from China
Try to steal your mind elation
Little girls from Sweden
Dream of silver screen quotations
And if you want these kind of dreams
It's Californication

Its the edge of the world
And all of western civilization
The sun may rise in the east
At least it settles in a final location
Its understood that Hollywood
Sells Californication

Pay your surgeon very well
To break the signs of aging
Celebrity skin is this your chin
Or is it war your waging

First born unicorn
Hard core, soft porn
Dream of Californication
Dream of Cailfornication

Marry me girl be the fairy to my world
Be my very own constellation
A teenage bride with a baby inside
Getting high on information
And buy me a star on the boulevard
Its Californication

Space may be the final frontier
But its made in a Hollywood basement
And Cobain can you hear the spheres
Singing songs off station to station
And Alderons not far away
Its Californication

Born and raised by those who praise
Control of population
Well, everybodys been there
And I dont mean on vacation

First born unicorn
Hard core, soft porn
Dream of Californication
Dream of Cailfornication

Dream of Cailfornication
Dream of Cailfornication

Destruction leads to a very rough road
But it also breeds creation
And earthquakes are to a girls guitar
They are just another good vibration
And tidal waves couldnt save the world
From Californication

Pay your surgeon very well
To break the spell of aging
Sicker then the rest, there is no test
But this is what you're craving

First born unicorn
Hard core, soft porn
Dream of Californication
Dream of Cailfornication

Dream of Cailfornication
Dream of Cailfornication

This song is a total and utter denunciation of the American way of life as presented and sold by Hollywood.

Okay.... another one.

Read the words.  The music is good, but the words are where the true meaning is for those that choose to look for it...

Edit to add:  As far as I know, this is a true story.  From when I was young... and close to where I lived.

Another of my favorites.  Now you all know why I am so disturbed.  ;)

Edit to add: This is a song about a person who is about to die, and giving his last words to those he loves.

I love the emotion filled music.

How about this one.  A good band, but not one of my top 5 favorites.

This song though, it rips at my heart and soul in so many ways....
